I have not been using templates at all for the last two years. The images I have stored are the size I wanted them to appear in the auctions. Now I thought I'd try templates.

When I use template 18, for example, the 3 images across the top more or less fit fine. They are downsized.

When I try a customizable template and put the same three images across the top, I'd need a 52" inch monitor to get it all in frame.

I'd try stacking them at the top but for whatever reason, you eliminated that option from the customizable template although it does appear with the older templates.

No matter where I try to put the photos, the width is expanded beyond usability.

What am I missing? How can I get the customizable template to accommodate the photos the way Template 18 and others are able to do?

Do you have "scale down large images" set? Go to My Account, Seller Preferences, Global Preferences. Under "Auction Listing Preferences" is a check box for "Automatically scale down large images" which needs to be checked to get your images down to a manageable size. At least it works for me!

It works for some of the regular templates but doesn't seem to work for the customizable. At least, it doesn't keep the auction from requiring a 52" monitor.

Well. Sorry, I thought I had the answer for you!

I use a customizable template too -- usually three down to the left, but if I use my "three across the top" template, the photos downsize just fine (my base pictures generally run 400 pixels wide). It's a little wide, but that's going to be true since the downsized pics are still 250 pixels wide and I run my monitor at 800x600.

Hopefully, someone from Vendio will come along and explain why it workd for me and not you...

Hello,

Are there particular images this is happening with by chance? I tested this directly in your account using our old template systems #18 design, but the 3 on top easily fit within my window without needing to scroll.

Yes. I realize Template 18 works. I want the New Vendio #2 (customizable) to work. I used the auction for "8 1/2" and I got an auction spread all over the map.

Hello,

Could you save an example to your pending section for us to take a look at? I changed that test item in your pending section now to the #2 new template, but it seemed to resize to fit the page quite easily.

Christopher

I justed posted two variations with "8 1/2". One is 3 images on top; one is wrap left. Both have containment problems.

Hello,

I took one of these items, removed all of the HTML code you have pasted within, but kept the same template and images attached, and it will resize perfectly.

There appears to be something in the HTML code being pasted within this listing causing the page to extend wide like this.

Possibly the scrolling banner? We cannot say what part of your own code may be doing this. Typically it can be caused by long lines of characters without a break, forcing the template to the point where a space finally exists in the line.

Regards,
Christopher

That the HTML clashed can be assumed. The only question is why Template 18 is not affected. Shouldn't whatever code I wrote be geographically restricted?
