I am getting frustrated because my pictures are rejected for size-the message says they are larger than 350k and lets me know how many bytes they are. I have Microsoft's program for editing pictures, but what am I doing wrong on editing them? Is it inches high and wide, or pixels per inch? That's the only options I see. What, exactly is 350K? I am so ignorant about this and I'm wasting so much time trying to figure out what Vendio wants. Any help for me?

Hi there,

Sorry for the frustration! You might want to check our image sizing tutorial - this may provide some information that will help you resize your images.

I am not sure what MS application you are using as an image editor. Please let us know the specific application and we will do what we can to help. Also, what resolution setting are you using in your camera?

Best regards,

Diana

To partially answer your question, I think the 350K you speak of is the file size. 350K is 350,000 bytes. One megabyte is generally thought of as 1,000,000 one million bytes. If your camera takes a really high resolution picture, your file size can easily go over one meg, or one million bytes, and as you noted there is a size limit of 350,000

By looking at the details of your files before upload, using Windows Explorer, you should be able to see the files sizes.

There are programs, that can optimize your photos for the web, which can keep the same size photo, at a slightly lower quality (difference can be negligible) and will make the file size smaller.

I set my camera to take pictures in high quality and 640 x 480 resolution. The file sizes are around 120k (120,000).

I then optimize them, at 640 x 480 and get the file size down to around 60K or 60,000.

The smaller your file size, the quicker people can look at your auctions, which can especially make a difference on people using a dial up service.

Mike, in case you see this, thanks so much for your answer. I was looking for some numbers and your 640 X 480 works wonderfully for me. I don't know how to convert bytes to picture size. I tried this, uploaded lots of pictures quickly and I'm happy as a clam! Thanks!!

I'm glad the 640 x 480 size worked out for you.
