I would guess this has been addressed before, but I haven't seen it. I am having a lot of trouble with Checkout and the 6 percent Pennsylvania sales tax. I have the box checked that supposedly allows buyers to "edit" their total and add in sales tax, but I keep being told by winning bidders that Checkout won't allow it. What am I doing wrong (assuming always that it's me and not a flaw in the program!)

Hello Marshall,

We double checked your account and it does appear that you have your sales tax setup properly at this time.

Your buyers do however manually enter their sales tax rates based on your directions. If your buyers are confused on this step, you may want to consider revising these directions via the My Account tab, under the Post Sale Mgmt Option link found within.

Christopher

Hi Christopher and thanks. But it isn't that buyers are confused about manually adding in the sales tax; it is that the program sometimes won't let them do it. Not being on their end, I'm not sure what it looks like, but a number have said they just finally had to go to their own PayPal accounts and pay the sales tax that way. I remain puzzled. Marshall

Hello Marshall,

That is odd, we haven't heard from anyone thus far that said there simply was no tax box, or something about it wasn't allowing them to use it.

Try clicking on the PSM keys beside one of your items in the closed section to test this with. If already completed, uncheck step 2, then click on the 'go to buyer checkout' link and see if you can use your own tax calculator. I checked it on my end and it seemed to be functioning correctly.

Regards,
Christopher

As much as I dislike the current sales tax drop-down box method I think Vendio can at least eliminate the first column which may confuse some buyers. Is there a state which has double-digit sales tax rates?

I agree , this is the NUMBER ONE PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING WITH CUSTOMERS AND THE WBN , Tax rates should be set to auto in shipping options, most if not all only accept one taxe rate to items being shipped to a certain state, PLEASE EXPEDITE THIS ISSUE AS MY CUSTOMERS JUST DONT GET IT WHEN IT COMES TO THE DROP DOWN BOX THE WAY IT IS SET , AT LEAST CLEAN IT UP AND MAKE IT A CHECKBOX OR SOMETHING

The sales tax interface is so Mickey Mouse it borders on the absurd. When did you ever make a purchase and have the application of the tax rate left to your descretion. We need to be able to specify the tax rate in preferences and have it applied to our instate sales if applicable taking the participation of the customer out of the loop. Why not have the customer self calculate shipping also.
Republican, the other white meat!

I echo these sentiments, sales tax should not be a "voluntary" field. In fact, I have never had an Ohio bidder voluntarily add the sales tax - I always end up paying it myself! Vendio, this needs to be a priority item.

Hey AW.......if you are not going to respond are we to assume that the current tax issue is not your problem and you feel no need to improve it?
