Could you please tell me what has happened to the quality of the little eBay pics at the top of the auction. My larger pics in the auction itself are great but the little one at the top is of very poor quality. I have always had nice pictures on the top AND in the auction and for the past few weeks or so the quality has been very bad. I haven't changed the way I do anything so I would like to know if Vendio has changed something. This is very disappointing and not very attractive for the prospective buyer. A lot of people just look at that pic and if it looks this bad will move on and not bother to scroll down. Is there something you can do to correct the way they are being attached? Otherwise, I will have to change my preferences and eliminate the top pic altogether which I really don't want to do.

Hello,

We are looking into this issue. What is your image editor? What resolution do you save your images at? Please provide us with a couple examples to reference as well.

Regards,

Sonya

Sonya,
I save my pics in JPG format, I save at 100 resolution. You can look at my eBay site and see the big difference in the two pictures. I haven't done anything different than I have ever done on this end and this problem only started a few weeks ago. I think some people see the poor quality of the small pic and don't bother with the excellent quality large picture. I feel that something has changed on your end. I have always done my pictures this size and did not have any problems with the small one. Also, I have looked at many other Sellers sites that are not through Vendio and they have large pictures as well (some are larger than mine) and the smaller top picture is very clear. The average size of my pics are about 50K which is a very reasonable size. I am putting on auctions again tonight and have had to go and change my preferences to not show this picture until I can find out what is wrong. I am very particular about my pictures as this is the key to getting bids. Hope you can help.

I have had a different 'poor-quality' picture problem the last week, week and a half-

Normally, I scan and edit my pictures, upload them to Vendio, and they appear on Vendio exactly as they appeared to me in my own files.

However, over the last week or so, something has changed: Now I can take a perfectly clear, crisp jpeg, upload it to Vendio, and it transfers as a dark, drab poor-quality jpeg.

I have never had a problem with jpeg transfer on Vendio before. Whatever I see when I finish editing a picture, and then upload to Vendio, is always the same exact looking picture. What could possibly be different?

I brought this up on an earlier thread! I know if I revise the auction and upload my images to eBay pix that the little preview image is nice and clear so this must be a Vendio problem!! I know when eBay first introduced the little picture preview Vendio uploaded to eBay pix but now the link seems to go directly to Vendio.

These pictures should be the same quality as the Ebay pix and as paying customers we shouldn't have to go through eBay to get a good picture that's for sure. It does prove that it IS a Vendio problem. I take pride in a good picture. It is the key to your sales. I am so frustrated that I went into my preferences and changed the setting so that the little picture doesn't show anymore. Hopefully my customers will know to scroll down and see the good picture. I shouldn't have had to take this action though in a desperate move to save a prospective buyer from bypassing my auction due to bad quality pictures. I also am concerned whether or not the original "good" picture in my auction is the same quality as it used to be because when I upload from my files, the pictures are crystal clear and exceptional. However I have found lately that that exact quality is not there the way it used to be. They are still good, but something has DEFINATELY changed. Please Vendio, look into this.

Hello,

If you can all provide us with some item ID numbers where the left hand image is considerably different, that would be great.

Sonya

Here are a couple of good examples:
eBay Item#3635873890 and #3635875508
You can see the difference very clearly in these two examples.

Sorry- have been away all day. Not hard to find one of mine...here's one: 2199904946 ..the black writing on top of the postcard looks TERRIBLE in the preview..here's another: 2199908894 , and another: 2201041876

another: 2199971183 , 2201013907 ..all of mine look ripply on top and disintegrating! I don't use a photo editor...I scan to "my images" (xp) and upload from there unedited. Did not have this problem when previews first appeared and the link was to IPIX...they must crunch images some other way?? Thanks

I have now set my preferences to not show anything in this space...nothing is better than what I have been displaying! Is there a way to customize some wording in the spot rather than "see my description before bidding?"

Hello,

Thank you for providing some examples for us. We are evaluating this issue, which appears to be mainly due to browser rescaling. In the meantime, as a workaround you might consider using the automatic image resizing option available under My Account -> Global Preferences, as this option should help resolve the situation.

Thanks,

Diana

Diana - I don't want to use the image resizing feature. I took a survey of my postcard buyers and most indicated they do not want to make an extra click to see the image...my sales have increased since I provided a full sized scan at the top of the auction and I wont go back.

Hello neglus,

While using the image resizing function may not be the optimal solution, it will provide a temporary workaround for this problem. Another solution might be to select another option for the photo preview, perhaps use your logo or just leave that spot blank altogether, if you feel that your buyers will be discouraged by the scaled-down image.

Thanks for your patience,

Diana

I am in total agreement with neglus on this matter. I won't scale down my images either because it is very true that people don't want to click again on the image for a better look at the bigger image. I am like that myself when I am shopping on eBay and appreciate the large clear image at the beginning of the auction. I did have to go into My Account however and change my preferences so the the preview won't show at all until this matter is resolved. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

As of yesterday I have just decided to leave a blank space where the preview should be..hope you fix it soon!
