Hi
What is anyone's experience with the new Payment required now feature PayPal is now offering? Where is it turned on & off? I have looked at eBay and PayPal and couldn't find it until I launched a batch from smp. Is it possible to use it in our stores?

The Problem:
While editing my inventory most of today, I have continually received this message after clicking Save in the first (& final)inventory screen:

"Warning: the quantities have not been updated (edit in progress).
The current quantities available and in store are in this page
Please try again."

The last time it took 3 minutes and 3 tries to finally save the item. My speed at that time was 1150Kb per second. So my speed is fine. What is up with this?
It happened on the following inventory items throughout today. The category is + Swimwear. #28-336442-20Whibi; 28-106701-Lc; 28-106701-Lz.
thank you for your help.

Hello,

Are you referring to Immediate Payment? If so you can enable this in Post Sale Management Options.

Regarding the inventory issue -- what did you edit? I will see if I can replicate the problem.

Regards,

Sonya

Hi Sonya
Thank you for your response.
Actually the Immediate payment preferences is under Global Preferences. it took me awhile to find it but I did. Thank you for pointing me in that direction!

As to inventory, I was correcting catigories (old ones were no longer valid), item specifics, prices and sometimes descriptions.

Additionally, the spell check is still not working correctly. I added baglady to the manage personal directory awhile back and it still sees it as a misspilled word.

I continue to have banners appear all over my auctions.

Photos in my inventory continually show up as red Xs in the inventory modual. I refresh and I still have red Xs. I delete cookies and files in my browser and I still have red Xs. I reboot and I still have red Xs. If I click on an item to edit it, I can cancel or save it and most of the photos will then pop up but some are still missing. These are not old photos or deleted photos, I have checked.

I quit posting to this board because things never get fixed and I am told either that "I can't replicate it." "I can see it from here." etc. The banner problem has been going on for over 6 months. Please do not ask for more screen shots as many have been provided. When I edit html at ebay in their "non-code" screen, the banners show up over my logos even there.

My photos don't show up at eBay when there are gallery images selected. When I check inventory, the gallery image is selected but the line is blank where the address should be. When I upload from smp to pending, cancle the pending, edit the pending to save to inventory, I double check that the gallery is slected and the photo is there. After the item is saved to my store & inventory, I delete it in pending and launch from inventory so that I can track my inventory. The gallery images disappear sometime during the save to inventory from pending and launching to auction.

Thanks
Paula

Dear pgmeunier,

We are currently in the process of making improvements to Sales Manager and Inventory. I'm not sure why your inventory items are taking so long to save, or why you are seeing red x's where your images should be, since we cannot replicate it from here it would appear to be a connection problem or maybe a conflict with a program on your computer that is causing system resources to be used inefficiently in some cases.

As for the banner problem, I'm assuming that you're referring to the yellow checkout banner. The problem typically occurs when you use the scroller on your mouse before the page loads completely. I believe the problem is specific to Internet Explorer. To avoid this, you might want to just uncheck the yellow banner option, and use Checkout Redirect instead.

If I have misinterpreted, please let me know.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi pgmunier. It appears writing to CS about your banner problem is a lost cause. From email to email no one even cares enough to remember what the problem is. There is obviously a major back end code glitch in the basic function of your store template, and whatever code aberrations I cataloged on the board were not helpful in solving the problem.

The good news is that I've never encountered anyone else's Vendio store templates behaving like yours, nor did mine ever do that-- and the board is not flooded with new store owners saying their store templates are not working, either. That leaves the encouraging possibility that the glitch was introduced somewhere in the store/template/checkout integration setup code during Vendio software changes (a spurious later addition or error introduction can occasionally happen).

You could try canceling both your checkout defaults in your auction preferences and permanently deleting your store template(s) first from the auction side, then make an offline back up of your store inventory data and image data and cancel your store account with Vendio completely. Request Vendio to purge all held data for your storefront (because they keep it all for a certain number of months in case the customer changes their mind and resigns up). That way if the flaws are there they will at least get purged out of the system---I'm sure Vendio could work with you on that considering the circumstances.

Then rebuild your store from scratch as if you were an new customer, choose your colors, re-upload your logo and re-upload the backup inventory and images. After the store is running, re-do your store template for auctions from scratch in the workshop. If your new template seems to "stay put" when you run auctions, then add back in the checkout and see what happens. There have been several updates of the Vendio software since you originally did your store, and the whole template workshop system was introduced new since your original store was set up, so you might bypass the glitch with a fresh store setup.

It may not be worth the work and it may not make any difference, but it won't be any less time wasted than another 3 months of emails to CS and your template defaulting to blank template functions which throw your store banner all over the upper part of your post auction pages.

Hi passedtothepresent

As usual, you are right. I have noted an interesting occurance on eBay with my banners. I went to revise an auction and saw in the "normal" editing window eBay provides that the banner is over the logo already, before the auction has closed. So it is misplaced in the html and considering it wasn't doing this before, it must be a Vendio hitch. Showing up in eBays revise auction, edit description also proves that it has nothing to do with Internet Expolore.

As to the store, I am in the process of building my own store and will be shutting down my Vendio store in the near future. The Vendio store looks mickey mouse and that isn't the type of image I want. Additionally, many purchases are non-paying. The new store is utilizing the PayPal instant pay without registration feature PayPal is now offering. That way if someone buys something they HAVE to pay for it immediately as they would at JCP or anywhere. That alone will save me time and money.

You may not have noticed but I don't post very often any more because my questions are a. never answered; b. not answered in a timely manner (a posing on SMP board took 9 days to get an answer and it was an incorrect answer BUT I found the correct answer.) c. not worth my time.

I know most of the things I gritch about are not being mentioned by any one else and I think that may be because 1. People who post more than I do don't have time to come here. 2. They know more about html than I do and fix it themselves 3. I am a nut and make all this up

Hope everyone had a great July 4th!
Happy Day!
Paula

pgmunier: Thank you for taking your time to post here. I've learned a great deal from your posts and working now and then (just for fun) on the html fiascos your templates wind up with. I was so impressed with your custom template that you were never able to use at Vendio and how great it looked on ebay that I dumped my Vendio store and decided to do something of a similar caliber instead, which is about to near the end of the design and deployment process.

I appreciate Vendio as a set of auction tools very much indeed, and have welcomed the opportunity to get my feet wet here with Vendio in ecommerce and automated auction systems. But I will appreciate the ability to launch from my own site and manage my own inventory systms and interface with my own site ebay redirects even more. Good luck with your new site.

Hi pasttopresent
I appreciate vendio's tools very much. I just get really frustrated some times. The only way I got around errors this time was to try to list 3 times, delete everything and start over.
Even the red Xs are a connection problem not I'll check and see if we have any info on it. Don't take responsibility, just blame it on someone or thing... Ugh!

Take a look at this screen shot:
Ugh! I give up... the screen shot won't paste here and I don't know how to path it so that it will show here from my jpg files.
Send me your email address and I will email you the file. [email protected]

You will see what I mean. I would also talk to you about what you are using to launch from your site.
Thanks
Paula
