Okay, now that I have learned how to compress my images. If I delete an image and replace it with a compressed image in an active ebay store item, will this cause problems?? I realize that when I delete the image it will disappear from the listing, but... if I use the same name will it go into the listing? No, I never do things that don't involve a lot of questions.

Hi again Kevin,

Don't delete you're "old" image from Vendio on an active listing. The easiest way is to just let these BIG image files run their course, then delete them.

Personally, I don't delete image files until I KNOW that the transaction is completed to the satisfaction of myself and the buyer. There's nothing more frustrating for a buyer, that want's to look at an image of the item they bought, only to find they're looking at the dreaded red X (or Vendio's SORRY Image Not Available).

Anyway, I don't *think* you can do what you'd like to do. I do know that Vendio won't let you upload another file by the SAME NAME if I remember correctly. If you absolutely MUST replace them now, you really need to upload the new smaller images (leaving the old ones up) with a new file name. Then assuming you have no bidders, you can REVISE each listing (using the HTML way of editing), and insert/replace the new image names where you find the old ones.

I could be dead wrong on that score, and if I am, I'd love to hear from the reps on that.

See ya manana,

Terre

Kevin - you can replace the old image with new one..first delete the old file, then upload the new one with EXACTLY the same name, empty the old one out of your recycle bin... refresh your browser...and VOILA..look at your listing..the new image should be there (You can right click on the images and select properties and see the size of your image to make sure)

neglus,
Thank you! I tried what you said on a couple of "dead" auctions and it worked! Old huge image gone and new smaller image in. I even adjusted a couple of images just to be sure that they were the new ones. Great!! Now all I have to do is redo over 200 auctions and store listings and I'll be all done. (and quite insane!)
In all reality, even if I don't redo all of them I will still have enough space to add more pics and not go over the limit and, stay within my price range. Thanks to all who have helped me! It is greatly appreciated!

You are very welcome Kevin. I am using 1.1 GB storage now and still shouldnt have to pay any extra with credit for my Variable Sales Manager Plan and the FVF's for items I sell each month. I am experimenting with bringing my image size down too but my biggest problem is that I can't delete images that could be 2 years old because of my store and I have NO IDEA which images those are and with 3,800 items in my store I am not about to try to find out!

As luck would have it, I write the image number on each item when I take the pictures. Some times taking over 100 usable pictures in a day. If I hadn't, I would have gone nuts trying to figure out which of the old pictures I could delete. However, with the over 3000 items in your store, even my system wouldn't help. Once again, thanks for the help!

COOL! Thanks neglus! In this case, I love being wrong. Not to mention, learning new tricks.

I think I assumed that Vendio assigned a URL to the image that wouldn't be consistent with the old image address. So much for assumptions, huh? lol

Thanks again
