Assume all of your images are NOT in auto-renew. So the new system is like the old in that if the image is NOT attached to a Vendio store item, an ebay item or an ebay store item, it will be marked for deletion.

IF the item is attached to one of the above, there is no need to autorenew because the deletion date just moves ahead one day every day, right?

I don't want images to automatically renew if they are not attached to anything, so I am a little confused as how to manage them in the new system.

I have over 10,000 images and like to delete what is not being used to make room for the new ones.

Thank you!
Beth

Hello vintageads4u,

That is correct, the policy for image deletion is the same as it was before.

Christopher

Well, then why are the images that are attached to items in my ebay store scheduled for deletion 2 months after they were listed?

For example, Ebay item 2271199386 (which is in the ebay store) is scheduled, according to the image hosting page, for deletion on Nov. 25th.

This is becoming a concern for me as to manually deal with 10,000 images, 9000 items, trying to figure out what is where and if an image is going to go missing is not feasible.

Any help would be appreciated, as I am sure it is just me not clicking on the right thing.

I have the same issues - over 16,000 images using 1.2 GB storage. After losing many of the images attached to my ebay store items, I renewed EVERY image in my recycle bin until the new Image Hosting policy was instituted.

I now have all the images set to auto-renew and should be ok for the foreseeable future - my Vendio fees are always greater than Image Hosting fees up to 10 GB...but after that YIKES!

Once an item has sold and a "decent" amount of time has passed, I have no interest in keeping the image. With my sell through rate, that should be about 33% of the images.

I would like to see something in post-sale bulk processing that enables us to delete images enmasse on sold items.

PS: When the new system was implemented I got a notice at the top of the image hosting screen telling me that I could only keep 10,000 images in my "unfiled" folder so I set up folders (by date uploaded) and moved them and at the same time set "auto renew". I now use my unfiled folder for items I have just uploaded and not listed yet (makes finding the images a snap) and my image list loads instantaneously!

Hi: Just making sure that my question stays near the top. Images of items in my Ebay store are cued up for deletion. Since the items are active, I am not sure what the deal is. I have gone in to Image Hosting and found some of them and "viewed" them but dont see doing that all the time, just to keep them from being deleted.

Also, I do not want to "auto-renew" images I will not use anymore. Could get VERY expensive.

Thanks
Beth

I am beginning to think the problem of the images not automatically being recognized as "active" may be related to whether the auctions were launched from inventory or from SalesmanagerPro.

The images that are NOT automatically renewing are inventory items that I launched into my Ebay store...I think. I have not gone through all of them.

Anyway, thought that might help you figure out why my ebay store images are slated for deletion when they are very, very active.

Thanks
Beth

Hi Beth,

When you list from Vendio that resets the image deletion flag. But if you are relisting directly on eBay or if you haven't touched the images in a while, they could flag themselves for deletion. Are the images cued for deletion attached to GTC eBay Store items?

Sonya

The images are active Ebay store items, such as: 7102980440
All of my auctions and Ebay store items are launched from Vendio platforms: either from inventory online, create an item online or smpro.
It seems that the ebay store items are not updating on a "rolling basis" as I asked in my first (see top) email.

So, my question remains: If you have an image on a vendio store item or an ebay store item will it automatically renew? It seems the answer is no. YIKES!

Hi vintageads4u,

Let me first say I don't think there is anything wrong with the system or your settings or your listings. Everything is working as they should. I believe the source of the confusion comes from a misunderstanding about how our Auto-Delete and Auto-Renew functions work. Let me try to clarify these:

Auto-Delete
- All this does is automatically delete an image if it has not been viewed after a time period set in your Image Hosting prefs.
- Images could get renewed by being viewed by your buyers or you (the old way of renewing images was actually to click on them).
- It never had more sophisticated intelligence to identify specific images as attached to a live listing and exempt them from deletion. We did, however, recognize this as a need and have already put this on a future feature list. So Chris is right that this works as it always has.

Auto-Renew
- This allows you to keep images permanently until you manually delete them or set them to Auto-Delete again.
- There are two ways to set Auto-Renew:
..- In Image Hosting prefs. Note that this will apply to future uploads only.
..- Per image by clicking checkboxes for individual images using the Renew button on folder views.
- So if you set your Auto-Renew preference on and wonder why your existing images are not auto-renewing, that's why.

Hope that helped.

Regards,

Chuck

Actually Chuck, as long as an image was "attached" to an inventory item it was "renewed" or at least NOT deleted. You did not have to click on it. Trust me with 9000 items, some not perhaps viewed by a customer for a month, I did not go "a-clickin".

If attaching an image to an inventory item or an ebay store item allows them to remain UNDELETED, then I am OK. However, images attached to ebay store items show an "expiration date". It would seem that as long as the item is in the ebay store (good until canceled) the expiration date would keep rolling like they seem to with inventory (vendio store) item. Everyday, my 8900 vendio store items show a automatic update of date viewed and an appropriate expiration date.

I have given you an ebay auction number to see this for yourself. Item is in the store, last viewed 9/20 set to expire 12/19. HOWEVER, the item could be in the store until 12/31. Unfortunately, the image would be gone. With thousands of items and images, the amount of time trying to figure out which one is going to be deleted is not really feasible.

Why is it not working like it did before? And why ONLY with ebay store items?

Geez, you think you know the system but there's always more to learn You are correct - images attached to Vendio store items won't get deleted.

Chuck
