Hi guys,two questions please.
(1) need to put an auction directly on to ebay for a friend. The pics are in Vendio. How do I put them onto the ebay auction? Have never listed an auction direct to ebay before. Always did it through Vendio. Please advise.
(2) Just revised an auction. Needed to change the images. Cancelled the old ones by deleting them from Image Hosting but couldn't get the new ones to load on the auction above the text. They came out underneath the auction instead in the space usually reserved for "adding to an auction". Have tried in the past to copy and paste the HTML onto an auction in the area where I had hoped they would end up but usually ended by messing everything else up. It is difficult to know exactly where to put the new HTML. Any easy way to do this would be appreciated. Please advise. The auction involved is # 6225637372 Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

You can start on ebay using the Sell link displayed at the top, and pick your choices from there. To get the images in, you'll need the HTML for the image URLs.

To obtain the code which contains your image URL(s), follow these steps:

1. Click the Image Hosting button.
2. Check the box next to the image(s) that you wish to select.
3. On the bottom of the page, click the "Attach" button.
4. Choose "Other Auction Site (generate HTML)", select New Auction, and click "Continue"
5. On the next page, copy and paste the entire block of HTML (which includes your image URL) into the description box of the auction listing form.

If you wish to use only the image URL, it/they will be embedded in the HTML code generated by our system. If you do not have the "click to enlarge" feature enabled, the image url will look like this:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/yourimagefilename.jpg

If you have the "click to enlarge" feature enabled, you will need to alter the ".mids" URL to create the correct image URL. To do this, just remove the /.mids portion of the URL. Here is an example:

Before:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/.mids/yourimagefilename.jpg

After:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/yourimagefilename.jpg

The "after" URL can be used in any auction and can be altered to point to any image in your list simply by changing the image filename portion - just be sure that the filename *exactly* matches the filename on our site (case-sensitive.)

I checked item 6225637372 -- when you add using the attach image to an existing auction feature, the images go at the bottom. To get them in the listing, the easiest thing to do is to upload those two images again, but this time give them the same names as the ones currently showing in the listing as 'image unavailable'. Let me know how this works out for you.

Regards,

Sonya

Merci beaucoup Sonya, I guess to put 5 pics on I do the HTML thigamajig for all 5 at the same time. Is that correct? Otherwise I can't see how it would work as I would have to keep going back and forth between ebay and vendio.
Also thanks for the info on putting new pics on when revising an auction. Only problem right now is that since I deleted the images from image hosting I don't remember the exact names I had given the images that were deleted. So on this auction I will just leave it the way it is. But now I will know how to do it for the future.
If we don't speak again for a while have a very happy Thanksgiving and a great holiday season. Au revoir, Steve

Bonjour Steve

If you were going to attach 5 images to one listing you would be best off selecting all 5 and generating the HTML that contains all image links so you don't have to go back and forth (and there will only be one Vendio promo). Just check the boxes next to all images before you click the "Attach" button.

For the missing images, you can find your image names by right-clicking on the "image not available" icon in the listing, and opening Properties. The image URL will still be available to view, and the image filename is at the end of the URL.

Hope this helps!

Diana

Hi Diana, thank you. Just one problem to resolve. I did a test on the 5 HTMLs last night just to make sure how they would come out. The pics came out huge. Each picture fills virtually a whole screen. Makes any auction that I will list look kind of silly. I had taken out the "mids" out of the URL as Sonya had suggested . Is that the problem? Thanks again, Steve

Hi Steve,

You don't have to remove the .mids portion - that is only if you don't want the "click to enlarge" function. If you do, just copy the block of HTML code and paste it into your eBay listing without altering it. If you have the "click to enlarge" feature enabled in preferences the correct code will be generated with the .mids and full size image URLs.

Thanks,

Diana

Diana, just tried your suggestion of right clicking on the empty image box and then properties. It only shows half of a URL. Doesn't give me enough information to figure out what I had named it. Try it and you will see what I mean. Steve

Hi Steve,

Firefox only displays half of the URL when you first right-click, due to the size of the dialog window. If you stretch it out you will get the whole URL.

Sonya
