Hi, trying to list an item directly onto ebays site. Have done ok with everything except the gallery picture. I am attaching the message I received from ebay. Please check it out and let me know what I am doing wrong. I cut and pasted it right out of image hosting so I don't see why it is not acceptable. Thanks, Steve

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE. SEE BELOW FOR INSTRUCTIONS.

Thank you for choosing to be part of eBay's Gallery! Unfortunately, your item
#7368796240
FRENCH MAJOLICA ONNAING POTTERY ROOSTER PITCHER
has not yet been added to the gallery.

The problem is:
Your image is in a format we cannot process:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/viewimage.x/00000000/cyberageart/.mids/onnaingrooster1_001.jpg
Convert the image into a jpeg and repost to your web site.
When you are done, you can tell us where your new image is located by going to:
http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?DisplayGalleryImagePageV3&Item=7368796240

Thank you for using eBay!

The address you gave points to the "click to enlarge" page. Ebay can't read that for gallery. You need to find the image in "image hosting". open it and then right click for "properties". Copy image location from there and paste in the appropriate ebay spot.

Hi neglus, thanks so much for the info. I tried to cut and paste from properties but can't do it. I can copy but the paste line won't light up. So I will have to type it in manually. I notice at the beginning and end of the URL in properties that there are quotation marks. Do they need to be typed in as well? Thanks again, Steve

Oh, one other question, do I need to take the .mids out of the URL as I believe that is the HTML for the "click to enlarge" feature?

Oh, one other question, do I need to take the .mids out of the URL as I believe that is the HTML for the "click to enlarge" feature? By clicking on the properties line in Image Hosting I see that there is a .thumbs where .mids was. Should that be included in the URL?

Copy and paste this url in the gallery place:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/cyberageart/onnaingrooster1_001.jpg

No question marks - just copy that URL

Yes - you would have to take the "mids" out if they are in there.

Hi, took out the quotation marks and the .mids and all I got was a blank box where the gallery image is supposed to be on the revised sheet. If I right click on it and click "view image" it shows up. But not unless I do that. I figured that's ok, it'll probably just take awhile for it to show up Then right after I clicked submit revisions I got the same dreaded email from ebay as I showed in an earlier post.I have no idea what to try next. Am doing this auction for a friend under their user ID and it will be a fairly expensive item (over $350.00) so I would of course prefer to have a gallery pic to show. Every little bit helps. By the way I'm finding ebay very slow this past few months. I have been listing for seven years and have never seen it this slow. How about you? Happy Thanksgiving. Steve

Hello Steve,

For the image in question, the correct URL that eBay is looking for is the following:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/cyberageart/.mids/onnaingrooster1_001.jpg

Here are some tips on getting the correct URL:
If you do not have the "click to enlarge" feature enabled, the image url will look like this:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/yourimagefilename.jpg

If you have the "click to enlarge" feature enabled, you will need to alter the ".mids" URL to create the correct image URL. To do this, just remove the /.mids portion of the URL. Here is an example:

Before:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/.mids/yourimagefilename.jpg

After:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/yourAWusername/yourimagefilename.jpg

The "after" URL can be used in any auction and can be altered to point to any image in your list simply by changing the image filename portion - just be sure that the filename *exactly* matches the filename on our site (case-sensitive.)

Regards,
Christopher

Hi Christopher and Neglus. you guys are contradicting each other. Neglus says take the .mids out - Christopher says put them in. Now I'm thouroughly confused. Also unless I'm mistaken please look again at the original ebay message in one of my first emails. The URL that ebay shows is exactly the same as the one that you guys are telling me to put in and they say that is no good. Again if this auction wasn't for someone else and a fairly expensive item I wouldn't be bothering you all with this. But now it really has my curiosity piqued. HELP!!!!! Thanks, Steve

Hi Neglus, you were right on. just used your URL and voila the image showed up in the gallery box. I think the clue was leaving out the word "view" before image server. Anyway it worked. Thanks so much for your time and expertise. Have you any thoughts about ebay and slowing down as I wrote in one of my other posts? Thanks again, Steve
