We frequently receive the following error when sending our UPI's to Ebay. We never had this problem until it changed from the old NPB to the new UPI system.

"The Start dispute failed to be submitted at the auction site.

The explanation given for the error was:
Internal error to the application.

Please try resending the Start dispute for this listing."

I most recently received this error on auction number 5848762080 when I tried to file for credit on 2/18.

I also received the following message on item number 5861474701 when trying to start the UPI.

"The Start dispute failed to be submitted at the auction site.

The explanation given for the error was:
Internal error to the application.

Please try resending the Start dispute for this listing."

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

There are a few different scenarios that can result in UPI errors.

First, some of your UPI requests may have been closed at eBay. All UPI items that are closed and/or over 60 days old will display an error message, but we will be correcting this in our system to reflect the closed status. There is no need for you to take action on these.

Second, because of limitations in eBay's API, certain conditions that are required to be met (such as a buyer response) cannot be detected by our system and eBay may produce errors for these conditions that our system cannot interpret. Unfortunately, these errors cannot be eliminated from our interface and will require you to follow-up on eBay directly. We are working with eBay to correct this, but in the meantime, the rule of thumb is:

1. If you have submitted a new UPI request or response and it errors out, it could be because not enough time has passed. In this case, try resubmitting the UPI request/response. If it errors again, follow up at eBay directly.

2. If your UPI is closed at eBay and there is an error in our interface, you may ignore the error. We will be elimiating these shortly.

I apologize for any inconvenience created by this. Again, we're working with eBay to try to find a better way to manage the UPI system.

Regards,
Christopher
