why can't people sell replica products at auction -- example fake louis vuitton purses.

I buy them in New York on Canal Street.. the cops walk right by when they are selling them and I am told that it is okay because they sell them as fakes.

I would sell some of my own fakes if it was permitted but it doesn't seem to be.

This is upsetting to me because I see 'fakes' for sale on eBay that say they are real and I KNOW they are not real.

If someone says "I have a fake rolex" for sale I don't know why they can't be sold as long as they let the customer know it is a fake. Believe it or not there are a HUGE number of people who buy 'fakes'.. even very wealthy people are buying fakes because they look like the real deal.

Can anyone help clear this up for me.

Thanks

The reason you are getting the heat on is for KEYWORD SPAMMING.

You might be selling fakes and you clearly state they are fakes but people looking for real LV and rolex don't want to find 10,000 fakes to sort through.

All of the big expensive design houses have employees who do nothing but scour the net looking for abuse of their name or using their real trademarked design name to divert customers to fakes.

Don't even bother trying to fight ebay about it........you can't win.

Maybe the 2nd tier sites will let you list them but traffic is slow as are bids.

there appears to be NUMEROUS fake watches for sale on eBay and they do nothing about it. bags appear to be under control.

YES CANAL STREET rocks specially for LV products.

I totally agree. Maybe if ebay was smart (ha ha) they would put up a fake section. But that wouldn't be any fun for those policing people you spoke of.
I too, love Canal Street, used to live in NYC and man did my friends love me bringing home those fakes as gifts. The way I loose things, fakes are the only way to go

sell an item that Ebay does not have in it's vero program. they won't police those auctions. someone has to file a keyword spamming complaint to get you busted. thats straight from Ebay........

so look up vero and sell knock offs not on the list is my tip/

IT is also a FEDERAL CRIME to sell Counterfeit goods or what you are refering to as Fakes. If the item has the logo of a co. and was not manufactured by them, it is counterfeit. Look alikes with a slight variation in spelling also fall under this catergory.Any questions may be answered, if you have a doubt check, at

You can't do it because eBay says you can't. They are the law. There is no appeal.

At country auctions you'd better know what you are bidding on because they start off with one huge disclaimer saying you should assume it's all fake, chipped, cracked and broken. They sell "frames", not paintings. It's up to you to either know what you are doing, stay out of the way, or get burned.

On eBay you have an unusual opportunity to do the research, ask the seller questions, direct knowledgable people to the auction for their opinion, etc. In a slow motion auction such as this, there is no excuse for just blindly bidding on an item based on assumptions and hopes. Consignors at small auctions will often yell out "this is the real thing!!" and "McCoy! McCoy! McCoy!" and there is always some fool who succumbs to this and starts bidding from two rows away, having never inspected the item. Have you ever tried to find that consignor five seconds after his lot is sold??

I like eBay being clogged up with junk and fakes because it offers the sport of finding the genuine article, just like a real country auction. If you only want to buy from amongst a list of guaranteed, properly attributed and dated pieces go to Sothebys or fine antique stores, and pay accordingly.
