NEVER. I'd rather cut off my finger than point and click my mouse on an eBay banner!!

I can't recall the last banner I've clicked on - on eBay or anywhere else on the web for that matter.
I particularly don't like banners that blink at me from the computer screen and usually scroll down quickly without reading to get them out of sight.

WHY NOT ??? Ebay banners can make the search for auctions much easier and bring more life in an auction listing....what is so bad about them???
I tried several times to put the banners in my auctions and will continue to do so in at least some of my auctions......
Can anyone tell me why they think these banners are so HORRIBLE????
I do not know if they make much difference either but they just look good and bring some color in the auction listing....
OR ARE WE TALKING ABOUT DIFFERENT BANNERS HERE???

I do not use any banners. If I want to go somewhere, I'll spend the extra 2 seconds to type it in.

Of thousands of these banners we see across the internet - it seems almost all sites have banner exchanges these days - I have never clicked through. Are they worth it? No.

I guess I'm guilty, I hit the KEEN banner ONCE out of concern (things I read on the DNF board) and I agree with the DNF'ers that keen.com shouldn't be on ebay.
Hit the Autotrader a few times during the inital motor's fiasco, mostly looking for links back to ebay, and gave ebay my 2 cents worth (under a different ID than here) on the DNF and Soapbox.
Other than looking at a few to see if I think they are going to hurt sales or not, I ignore banners on the net.

None. Norton Security takes care of sending ads and banners to the garbage can...And even before I had the program, I would run as fast as I could from any banners...They just really, really tick me off....

Clicked on a "trick" banner that looked like an operational notice "fix discovered search problems here". My spam load went double - and double again within 3 days.
But I would walk on broken glass to "punch the monkey" - -- only if it was for real

What ads? I dont see any ads or banners.
Well many times in the past people have mentioned about a program at adsubtract.com that illiminates those banners.
I want to give many thanks those who told me about it as it is working like a charm. It even has a control panel that tells the stats of how many little annoying ads got wiped out.
Since I logged on this morning,

AW 40 done away with
You know, I just dont even miss the little critters anymore.
Thanks for the previous posts on this and thanks to those who mentioned it, i dont know the proper people to give credit to but they know who they are. I for one appreciate it.

Once upon a time, in 1998, I was reading my humble xoom.com mail account and I clicked a banner that said Ebay.
Well....the rest is history.

The click-through rate on banner ads is LESS THAN 0.33 PERCENT.
Not even ONE percent of all netizens who see a banner ad EVER click on it.
Of that .33%, only an infintesimal percentage EVER make a purchase.
Banner ads are STUPID.

I use AdSubtract Pro and I LOVE it! No ads, selective cookies, no pop-up windows etc.

It's possible that I clicked one by mistake once. Anyway, as Fryster suggested, download adsubtract (there is a freeware version). One of the best downloads I've come across.

Hi radh, how are you doing? I agree that banner ads are STUPID but more importantly, they are scum sucking, bandwidth stealing, privacy invading, bug infested travesties that are trying to download tracking devices on my hard drive. The worst part is you don't have to click on many of these banners to have the bugs load - all that is needed is for the banner to be on the same page that you're viewing. I don't see much difference between this practice and phone tapping which, in most cases, is ILLEGAL. I'm certainly not going to encourage these advertisers by clicking on their banners.
I'm using WebWasher which is a free web filter so I don't see the banners any more AND it stops the tracking cookies and bugs from downloading on my hard drive. If more folks had these filters maybe the advertisers would get the idea that we aren't using the internet to be flooded with more spam - we get enough via the telemarketers and the mailbox!!
I don't think WebTv users have this problem since they don't have a hard drive but I'm not sure. Is there any way to store cookies on a WebTv?

Rumor has it, that eBay is getting around $4,000,000.00 per month from advertisers for those banners. Amazing eh?

OK, so I don't any banners from any site that's easy. But, how do I determine what cookies to keep?
BTW I never click on banners. To me they are just annoying.

Never the eBay banners , as I don't use their home page and ignore anything dangling down at me when I'm trying to do a search.
Inadvertantly got into an AW one some months ago that bugged the cr*p out of everybody with a big red Xright on the old image-hosting page ; just tried to follow some fellow posters' advice on how double-or-right clicking on said monstrosity could inactivate it...
.... think those same posters are at a " TOP " now ! Must have been a plot, hmmm?
..or a Brain Drain ?
