I was all set to talk about the problem bidder I recently had some experience with. Regular readers will know of whom I speak. I even invited her to participate here, got all my ducks lined up with AW (thanks Pat!), and was ready to let 'er rip.

Seems eBay beat me to it. She has been NARU'd for providing false contact info and other 'suspicious' activities!

But, I STILL have to wait for listing and selling credits on a big ticket item. Doesn't seem fair, does it ...

EBay still refuses to short circuit their waiting period for credits and continues to use my money. They have NARU'd the bogus bidder and agree that I will never get paid for this item.

I don't think this is fair ball so I have told them to cancel all my auctions and close my account. I have also advised my CC company to hold any eBay invoices.

Hate to do this, but principle is principle

How long will it take to have your fees refunded? I thought that you could file NPB a few days after the auction ended and FVF something like 7 or 10 days after that. How long has it been for you?

I knew the bogus bidder was a phoney one day after the auction closed (don't ask me how ... I have ways!). I had to wait something like 7 days to file a non-paying bidder thing, then another ?? days after that before I can request a credit.

The wait is not the issue here. The issue is the fact that eBay have acknowledged that I will not get the bid amount, yet I still have to wait. I fail to understand why - there should be no "let's see if you can work this out" period when there is no way that is going to happen.

Besides, they have around $20.00 of my money right now collecting interest in their account when it should be collecting interest in my account. It's not even so much this ... it's the principle that they won't look at each case on it's own merits.

The other problem is that technically, I cannot offer the item to someone else until eBay decides it's OK

Oh... yes, I can see why you don't want to wait since it's obvious there will be no "working out." My guess is that eBay isn't flexible about the time limits because it would place a huge additional workload on them to review each incident on a case-by-case basis, so they make the same rules apply for all. I'm sorry, RB.

I still cannot understand WHY in the world they changed the rules, making it so much more difficult for sellers. It would seem quite obvious that no matter how long one waits, if a bidder decides NOT TO PAY, nothing in the world will alter that decision!....

Sorry, RB!!!..I hope you already list somewhere else?

Shoshana, I bet they save a huge bundle by making us jump through those hoops to get refunds. Most sellers probably don't bother at all.

James.

You are right, James....Personally, I would prefer to just do what I have to do, neg or neutral (NOT neuter}..the person and relist immediately...That is exactly what Ebay is hoping for!...But to me, it is worth the re-listing fee and be able to sell the item right away...unless another NPB comes along...

RB, I see where you have your mind made up but I am not understanding something.

I understand having to file a NPB and waiting 7 days, I understand waiting another 10 days to get that amount credidted after filing agian.

Well for everyone I know, we get billed at the end of the month. So in reality, is this just not getting taken off your bill fast enough or are you on a different system.

The $20 you mention i take si something totally different so we wont worry about that one.

It has always been my understanding that they would just remove that amount from my bill as I have never paid them any money up front. So you say its the principle that they already suspended this guy so they know you are not getting your money. And your beef on this incedent is that they are earning interest with your money. Well unless I got it all backwards or dont understand something, it really should not be a problem.

Even if they had your money up front, and this was say a $100 item. They would just be collecting $1.25 right, well how much interest could they make on that, even if it is just the principle of it. At most you would be out a listing fee that i dont think they refund and the $1.25. But all of this is on a bill for me and as I mentioned dont pay till the end of the month. Had it happened inbetween months, well would they then not give a credit to what you owe.

I have lots of Beefs with Ebay and have often thought of leaving, one day I might just do as you did also, ya never know.

RB "She has been NARU'd for providing false contact info and other 'suspicious' activities!"

What I want to know is how you got the details of why she was NARU'd!

chev1959 ... If I told you, I'd have to kill you

Trust me ... she HAS been NARU'd. I could post her (ex) eBay ID here (I have invited her to AW and I do have the blessing of Pat), but it would be a lost cause and would only result in agitating me and embarassing her even more.

As I have said before, there are many ways to obtain a person's info, even with all the so-called 'safeguards' ...
