I know many of you may not have even heard about paydirect yet ( a new online free service), but for those of you who have I have a question. I signed up for it a few weeks ago. There are quite a few things I like about it and it is a very smooth system. I also like that they state right out NO charge backs. Now I have been using it on Yahoo and I am thinking of using it on Ebay. I Know that I can't put a link to the yahoo Paydirect service but I have noticed that others are stating in their auctions I also take Yahoo paydirect. It that allow or do you think not to upset ebay "sensitive" people who take down auctions I hear at a whim do you think it would be better to say I take Paydirect also in payment instead of Yahoo Paydirect. I limit the amount of payment allowed with Paypal (I neither love nor hate Paypal it is a service with some postives and some not so postives like any other service, that is all) now because of all the things that have been going on and possible charge backs at least until everything seems to settle down. If a customer is unhappy (and I have never had one of my customers unhappy) I would gladly refunded the money after I get the product back the way it was sent. With Paypals new system it in some cases seems to me that the person could get their money back from Papypal and paypal take in out of my account without the person returning the product first. I don't wish to lose that control over big ticketed items. I have no fear of that with Paydirect because they clearly state in their user agreement once payment has been made that is it, no take backs (and since Yahoo marcahnts use it it seems to me that will change at no time in the future). So, for higher purchases I would like to use paydirect so, that my customers can use visa etc. . . if they wish. Since, most of my higher sales are on Ebay I would like to use Paydirect there. Anyway, has anyone heard what ebay thinks about this officially? and if you use paydirect on Yahoo how do you state it (I know in general they can't like it)

Thanks ahead of time
Tracey

Tracey - seems to me that Paydirect and Paypal would be the same in ebay's eyes - payment services they do not own. If they allow Paypal, they will surely allow Paydirect, at the moment it is far less a threat to them/Billpoint than Paypal.

Tracey, that's a great idea. And I really don't see how eBay could keep you from posting a link and even a button (as long as its within the allowed size range) for Yahoo Paydirect.

Yahoo really ought to provide a graphic for this purpose. Wouldn't that be hilarious if huge number of Yahoo buttons started popping up on eBay?

And I don't think they would dare disallow them because the are already walking a very fine line in terms monopolistic practices with Billpoint.

I have been thinking about it more and I do think that ebay would take any auctions down that have a link to Yahoo's paydirect. The page it would go to has a link to the Yahoo Auctions. A long time ago I put a link up to one of my websites. Since it was the same product I sell. I am small time and they didn't mind that but because the page had a link to a page the had a link to my Yahoo auctions ( I have an index page of all my websites and on that I included a link to my Yahoo and ebay auctions) they took down all the auctions that had that link to it. That link was buried pretty deeply away from the page link I had on the auction. IN fact I even forgot about it. So, after thinking about it for awhile I think maybe a wait and see attitude will do. I do wonder though if I can a least say and I take Yahoo Paydirect so new people know where to go check it out if they wish as opposed to saying just I take Paydirect(which I do now)? I mean just for saying the word Yahoo they shouldn't take down the auctions should they? Paydirect seems to be picking up quite quickly over on Yahoo I don't think it will take that long to pick up on Ebay at least I hope not I really like way it is set up.

Have a nice holiday all
Tracey
