I saw in an earlier response to "winner not responding" that you mentioned setting up Outlook Express so that you get a receipt when a message had been read. How do you activate this feature? What version do you use - mine is older. Thanks.

The Read Receipt option in OE is available in version 5. The person receiving the email must also have this ability, so it is not a sure thing.

Frist you need to have outlook 5.5 to do this then it will become clear how this works when you click the tools menu on each email you send you will see a send receipt option.
just remember the person on the other end can still choose not to send back the receipt to you .
Just a note some free web mail accounts offer this option too if you cant up grade your mail program and browser for what ever reason .

Sorry. I did fail to mention that the end-user can refuse to send the receipt, according to how they have Express set up. I just happened to find the option a few weeks ago in version 5.5. OE 5.5 is a free download at Microsoft.com.
I'm not so certain that it only works with recipients that use Express. I've had a lot of correspondence in the weeks since I started this option and I've received a lot of receipts. I find it hard to believe that so many people are using Express. BUT, the above writer could be correct. The feature is especially nice for work-related matters (i.e., not eBay) since you can assure that critical documents have arrived.
