Although I've only been selling since June, I've not had much luck with auctions that end on weekends or holidays. I thought people did their shopping at home but it seems they do it at work. I guess when people are doing family time then don't want to spend it on the computer.

I would think it would be a bit slow. All the tasty RL ads come out and it is more and more a tradition to go out and shop hands on. A way to kick off the holidays.

I listed auctions last year to end the day after Thanksgiving and did great! I had followed the advice of some who said they list auctions to end the day after holidays as it seems people are home and browsing. I will probably do the same this year. I know it can't get any worse for me so have nothing to lose--except listing fees!

I have to agree with kiki2. I've usually had auctions ending on weekends & holidays & done fine. I always figure they are as sick of the relatives as I am, can't stand the thought of another bite of turkey & have overdosed on football, therefore the computer is a GREAT excuse to avoid another minute of having to listen to your Mother-in-Law's detailed description of her gall bladder surgery.

I personally have not found holidays good selling times as many folks are away from home and don't have access to their computers.

BUT, after 5 years on eBay, and always doing night closings to reach the largest possible number of people; I used a free day last week and just set my auctions to close all day long to avoid a possible crash of eBay if everyone closed their auctions at the same time - I was amazed, my pieces sold as well during the day as they have at night!

I am going to do another test of the way I handled these auctions to see if auctions closing all day will work for us as well as evening closings.

I also discovered loading heavy on one day, and having to deal with many, many closings wasn't a great idea either, like to have killed me. I was thrilled with the sales, but I don't think I would be efficient if I continued to list and try to work and close 20 to 30 a day, since many of ours have to obtain addresses so that we can calculate UPS shipping on large items, so there are endless e-mails involved in our closing.

What will I do over the Thanksgiving holidays - depends on whether eBay starts the BUY NOW program by then.
