I got an account with http://www.usabancshares.com/ rather painless. Open an account for a minimum of $1.00. Free checks, free ATM/Debit card, no monthly fees (at present), $10.00 a month in ATM rebates, and 5% interest ($1.00 minimum balance required), FDIC insured.

I opened an acct. at USAbancshares after reading this board and then when someone posted their "lowish" rating I opened up and account with number 2 (that week), "Netbank".
Probabaly either of these are fine, but I prefer Netbank due to the professionalism of the cs phone reps, a real class act and I have contacted 4 or 5 times so it is consistant.

One other thing that bugged me about USAbancshares is that they make you log in with your SSN and they only allow a password with numbers. This is not especially secure, and also very inconvenient, because I cannot use a password familiar to me. (Mine contain letters and numbers which is what is recommended for increased protection).
When I commented about this (politely) the rep offered to close my account.
Netbank uses an account number to log in and a regular password. The acct. number is long and just another thing to remember, so I asked if they had considered allowing a user name.
The rep said that they agreed with me and were looking to add the feature.

For all you big investors, try Nexity Bank. It is rated in the top 10% for Highest Interest Rate in the nation. FDIC Insured too . Down side is, you need money to set up a money market account but since all of you have $50k laying around somewhere under the sofa from all the hugh eBay sales you make, you should have no problems right
If you think interest 5% is poor. For those large investors, try Nexity.

I just opened a online checking account with Bankone.com this was easy make out the aplication they even let me use my x.com debit card for my frist deposit.
you must open the account with $100 to start the account there is a $5 monthly service charge if you fall under $500 but I found this to be average for a good bank accout.
in 5 days I should have my start up packet and checks and and the debit card may arrive at the same time or shortly after that.
I found this to be the best Fastest lowest cost way to get online banking to get my money from X.com to my new account I think will cause the least delay and interuptions.
