With all the problems with PayPal, what about BillPoint? I don't see anyone on this board talking about using it. I'm using PayPal with no problems so far, but the $500 limit is quickly approaching. Could we have a discussion about Billpoint? I would greatly appreciate it!!

People dont' talk about Billpoint much because there's not much to discuss. It's straight forward. They don't misrepresent their service or lie outright.
There are certainly issues with Billpoint: the fact that it's owned by Ebay, the fees, different fees for different sellers, etc.
But, personally, I am very happy with Billpoint and have never experienced any problems.

Been usinig Billpoint for about a month now. I had been using PayPal for about the last 5 months prior to that. However, with all the talk and horror stories going on out there with PayPal, I decided to quit while I was ahead. The only possible drawback that I've found is that you need to send the buyer a BillPoint invoice after the auction is over if they wish to pay that way. With PayPal, of course, this step is not necessary. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Billpoint has worked just fine for me since last December. Only a couple of glitches in the past month when a buyer didn't receive the invoice and then one person just couldn't figure out how to pay the invoice.
I've been very happy with the service. And, they are really getting the money deposited into my bank account very quickly.
I like having a printed copy of these transactions and it's easy to see and print what is going on with the summaries.

I think Billpoint is the best electronic payment system available to sellers right now. At least until November 30th.
I had a another auction payment from a buyer yesterday. He used VISA and INSTANT PURCHASE. That meant $1.00 Off for him plus no fees for me! And the money is going into my bank account within 24 hours.
Plus, no emails were exchanged, no waiting for payment, no waiting for a check to clear or whatever else.
Also, I am in Canada and there were no international fees plus the exchange rate was even better than my own bank!
What can you ask for more?

About a month ago, I closed my PAYPAL account and opened a BILLPOINT account. I have had no problems at all. Since I usually sent PAYPAL auction invoices to those folks who wanted to pay via PAYPAL, sending BILLPOINT invoices is no big deal.
One of my favorite features--the ability to issue a full refund or partial refund without a fee being charged for the amount of the refund. I also like that the seller's return policy can be put on the invoice. This could potentially be important, since when the buyer pays the invocie, they are agreeing to those terms (mine are very generous, but not openended).
I don't mind paying for a service with which I have had no problems, and whose customer service actually alerts folks of SNAFUS and answers emails in a timely manner.

Billpoint has worked very well for me. I've had a couple of minor problem, & both times a CS rep from Billpoint phoned me at home to help me solve the problem, which was followed up with an email & another call later in the day to make sure the problem was solved.
Now that's Customer Service.

Aaaahh, what a difference a few months make. Not so many months ago, anyone who signed up for BillPoint was considered the village idiot around here.
PayPal was the darling & I can recall many a thread where the comments got more than a bit hostile.
Then PayPal joins the real world, starts charging for their services, now they are the village idiots & BillPoint doesn't look that bad afterall.
Can't wait to see what the next few months hold.
BillPoint has been a nice service from the beginning. There ARE problems. My customers have complained about getting in & filling out the invoice. Some sent invoices have gone missing. It's not easy to refund money (it can be done it's just not as user friendly as PayPal) & I still haven't found any place where you can send money for a non-auction item..you can request money for a non-auction item but not just beam it like PayPal.
Hopefully ebay may fix these less than user friendly problems over time. Meanwhile, it's something a lot of newbies seem to trust because it's associated with ebay (BOY, do THEY have something to learn) but I still like PayPal as well.

My buyers have used it twice so far-no probs. Had a transaction from Sweden take 2 days while the one from the US took 5-go figger.

I have used Billpoint successfully in the past with domestic and international buyers. I like that it fills out most of the auction information for you. They just added a feature where you can send a non-auction invoice to a buyer.
Only real complaint is that payment sent from buyer does not have their e-mail address in the From field. It makes tracking the e-mail conversation a chore.
I like this particular feature in Paypal.

As a buyer I love Billpoint--especially if the seller has a "winning bidder pay for it now" button on the auction--plus lately it has meant $1 off my winning bid if I use Visa--which makes me tend to prefer those auctions over others for the same item. The only problem is that it is so fast--sometimes the sellers don't realize they've been paid because billpoint can be a bit slow in notifying them. It's a bit of a shock to get an EOA from someone that you've paid--and you realize they aren't aware that you paid.

I think BillPoint offers supberb service. They have worked with me whenever any issues have arisen and the integration with eBay makes it a snap to invoice.
My Buyers like it ~ and the $1 off with visa promotion ~ and my sales have increased in $$ value because of it.
My shipping time is now the same day as invoice is paid ~ buyers are now impressed that items from Canada arrive within a week instead of four!
They offer a fair exchange rate and its great getting paid daily in cash.
I think its a great competitive advantage.

I DON'T use BillPoint -- so far, after 400 auctions since May, NOT ONE WINNER has asked if I take it.
Why pay those awful fees when ExchangePath & PayDirect are FREE?

I have been using Billpoint since last November. I love it.
I have a fair number of buyers who use the instant pay button and I have started to get buyers who are using the electronic check option.
and I too have found their customer service to be outstanding!

I'm a buyer and I like Billpoint a lot. I've used it without problem on about 6 auctions so far.
On Nov 5th I won an auction for some glassware, paid with Billpoint on the same day and had my purchase in hand on the 8th. No express shipping was involved and the seller lived on the opposite side of the country. I've never experienced a faster transaction on eBay. Of course, Billpoint can't take all the credit for the speed of this deal. I'm sure there was some serendipitous confluence of events that helped, but I doubt if it could have occurred without Billpoint.
