Yep, got various error messages this afternoon. Nice to see that ebay is operating "normally" again.
Also nice to see they still have programmers on staff who are ignorant of the English language. ("Functionality" is not a noun.)
IMHO such errors and ignorance reflect the intelligence of those at the top.

WAOL is aol. Go to keyword "system response" and lodge a complaint each and every time you get WAOL'd. I've been doing it for weeks. My zone alarm started going off and I checked where it was coming from and it was aol checking me out, so I must have gotten someones attention over there with all my reports. I was up to 40 reports a DAY when I finally got fed up. I finally got frustrated enough that I went cable modem and aol is now only getting $9.95 a month instead of the $25 they were getting from me for 3 years.

"What the hell is going on?"
AO Hell
I spent about two years on AO Hell before I switched to Earthlink. No ISP is perfect, but I spend hours online, dialups that are near instant and faster service for three dollars less a month)(not including all saving those extra dialups to get back on when AOL capriciously kicked me off)
There is absolutely no advantage of any kind to use AOL.

spaz--Go to Q&A and find Seadoggie. He ALWAYS knows what to do with browser problems. You might need a upgrade or a patch and he will have the link and everything fer ya.

Spaz, out of curiosity, are you using the built in AOL browser? This is not an answer to your problem, but the AOL browser is notoriously buggy, and if you use IE to browse many of the problems you encounter will dissappear.

Hi spazmodeus, I too have been having WAOL errors pop up on my screen for the past two weeks while cruising around eBay.
None have popped the last two days, but I haven't been accessing a lot of areas on eBay either.
Any suggestions I'd like to know about too. Thanks.

Spaz
Internet Explorer has been known to be very unfriendly to Ebay on occasion (or vice versa). I've spoken to a lot of people who swear by Netscape for working on Ebay. I was having problems revising auctions with IE 5.0. When I tried to scroll down to the bottom of the second page to hit submit, there was no submit button, just a bunch of garbage. The more I tried, the worse it got. I finally went to my other computer and used Opera and had no problems at all. You might want to download a copy and keep it handy for those days when IE and Ebay arn't speaking.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Hi spaz. I believe your problem is caused by either a missing, corrupt or incorrect version of the Msvcrt.dll file being called by AOL software. Do you have the latest version of the older AOL 4? EBay has obviously changed the codes on some of their pages so you will have to probably upgrade your AOL browser version. I'm not sure what the exact error message says so here are three pages pertaining to WAOL errors all of which are related to the Msvcrt.dll:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q191/4/71.ASP

I hope these work for you.

If you are happy with AOL, fine. I don't know anyone who left AOL found themselves wanting to return and I do so much more on the web and serve my customers better because I do not have AOL's non-standard email among other things.

Hi spaz. Unfortunately, there's lots that I don't know, but if I don't know it, I'll try to learn about it. Also, research is one of my favorite pastimes and I really enjoy learning how things work. I'm totally self-taught on using a computer and had no idea what to do when I purchased my first one 4 years ago. I've learned the hard way about the different functions of various dill's and vxd's because I've accidentally deleted them myself and ended up having to reformat my hard drive TWICE.
I would advise not doing that if you don't have to but I did learn quite a bit from those experiences and am no longer intimidated by this monster. Also, spaz, you know as well as I do that we Virgos aim for perfection.
I hope you were able to correct your problem.

For the person who said trying using MIE instead of the aol internal browser. IT wont work, because aol internal browser is Microsoft Internet explorer. For the person that is getting the waol errors, next time you get that message again you need to click on the details button to find out which module the error occured in. If you get that information, just call aol tech support and they can help you eliminate that problem. Basically the problem is probably with downloading Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, which you can download from aol keyword: browser or you can download it from microsoft's web page. Also if you get thrown off of any other web pages you may want to delete the aol adapter. This can be easily done If you have 5.0 or 6.0 you can go into the aol system information tool and click on the utilities tab. ONce on that tab click on the button that says UNISTALL AOL ADAPTER. Then the next time you go to aol it will rebuild itself.

AOL's browser is a version of IE 5.0 that is much buggier than the actual MIE browser (it can't display certain types of pages, etc.).

Trust it is the same thing. I work for aol tech support for windows. Your best bet is to avoid MIE and use Netscape. MIE is one of the most corruptible programs I seen in my life.

Hi again spaz. Here is a possible solution that I copied from an article on errors involving the kernel32.dll:
"Some Web pages contain a Java program that is incompatible with the Java Just-in-time compiler that is part of Internet Explorer. This can result in a kernel32.dll error. Solution: go to Internet Options, click the Advanced tab and uncheck the "Java JIT-compiler enabled" box."
I do know that eBay has been using java script code on many of their pages and this could very possibly be your problem. You should also disable all three scripting options, including Java in your browser's TOOLS button - TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS - SECURITY - CUSTOM LEVEL - SCRIPTING. Then delete your temporary internet files and refresh the page to see if this corrects the problem.
If that doesn't work, you will probably have to upgrade your browser. I know you don't like to RUSH into things but maybe it's time.
Quite often this error message is associated with low memory or lack of disk space. This is a good article that deals with kernel32.dll errors:

That's great spaz. Those Java script codes that eBay has been embedding in their pages are nasty tracking devices by HitBox which really ticks me off. I have all the Java, ActiveX, User Persistence and Scripting turned off in my browser because you know how I detest being tracked by the scumsucking advertisers. Since I'm not using many of the IE features I'm thinking of switching to a lighter browser.
Quite a few users have been complaining about page loading and viewing problems which are due to the implementation of these Java script codes but obviously eBay doesn't care about it's community. They just want the money the tracking ads generate.
I'm glad you finally solved the problem.
