Does anyone know how to actually close your Paypal account? I'm closing mine now and can't find info anywhere - even on their help page.

Sorry! I can't remember how I did it. I DID have to read the HELP section, though...

Good luck.

Well, I answered my own question! I found out how to close my account - but it says this:

If you close your account you will not be able to reopen it or open another account. All unclaimed payments and pending money requests will be automatically canceled. A check for the balance of your account minus applicable fees will be sent to your street address.

Looks like I will have to wait until the rest of my transfers go through to my bank accounts. Then, it's adios, Paypal!

Yes! That's what I did also. Waited till all my auctions closed, to make sure no more payments would come. I never did leave money in the account: transferred it right away...

I am back to checks and Money Orders, or Cashier's checks for high-end items, and am glad I closed PP. No regrets here...

I'm still trying to close mine. I keep getting a message that I can't close it right now. zero balance for quite awhile. I think it has something to do with the fact that I pulled my bank account and credit card info off before trying to close the account and they don't like that...I just changed my email to an obscure account that no one knows and wait to see what happens...but I won't be using it anymore.

edited to say: damon if you are still lurking out there I'd really appreciate your input on this

What a great idea, I am tired of people sending me money on pay pal. It is now for my bids not for sales. I dont like the changes we are being forced into, so if I change the email address I am set. That should work want a wonderful idea, thanks!!!!

Anyone care to explain what is wrong with PayPal? I just went to a Premier account status and I still love it. No more envelopes I get my money now. Sure it costs something but what about all the brick and mortar businesses? I think the cost is reasonable unless you are selling items you ae not making enough momey on. Perhaps that is the problem? I will search elsewhere to find what the problem w/ paypal is. Good luck!

I could refer you to numerous threads to clue you in, but this current one will probably suffice:
