There is an item I really want, but I'm on a budget... right now the auction has gone on for 6 days with no bids at all - it ends tomorrow... I won't be around when it ends, so I thought I would try the vrane snipe tool... Does that thing work? Or should I go ahead and place my bid now and hope it doesn't attract attention?

These items are usually on eBay, but normally go for much more than this one... of course being after Christmas and the fact that a bunch just sold might be driving down the bidding... But I would have a chance to get another one of these in the near future I believe.... just wondering what the risk is on loosing out by using the vrane snipe thingy...

I have never had a problem with it. In another thread someone said that esnipe was bought out or closing or something and I starting looking for other snipe programs.

I really like Vrane alot because you can find out any ebayer's fb, just the negs and neutrals or how many negs they have left all from the same page. I have been using them for a while now and there was only one time they missed the auction's end and that is MUCH better than my ratio was with esnipe.

I like the ease of esnipe better and with vrane's snipe program you can only have 5 potential snipes jobs going at one time (although I don't know if this is because it was my first time using vrane or this is THE rule).

Personally, I don't remember the last time I bid without sniping. Why drive the price up by bidding when you can wait till the last second or two?

But it goes without saying that if it something you GOTTA have you should bid using your own two quick fingers and not rely on a snipe program.

good luck and peace

edited to add a comma and ?.....but who cares?

I've used Vrane's snipe tool several times, all succesfully...... if you can really call a 8 second bid a snipe.

Preacher, do you know if there is any way to reduce the time between snipe and end of auction or if it is always the same preset time?

Nah. Theres no way.
The sistem automatically places your bid.
The best I've had is around 6 secs, the worst around 10.

The upside is that the bid is always placed, unlike e-snipe.

How can you place a bid if the amount is too low?

What do you mean if the amount is too low?

You mean if your maximum bid programed by you in the snipe job is below the current bid price at the time it resolves?

It will fizzle.

HEEEEEY!! Where can I get this snipe tool?? I need that!!! I sure wish I had it the night I bid on a pager I really wanted and got outbid in like the last 15 seconds!! (But it ended up ok cos instead of the $20 pager I got sniped out of, I ended up with another pager just as good for only $4.25)

I found a doll I really wanted at eBay. Auction ending in 9 days. Emailed the seller (in England). My first mistake was not checking my email for the reply. My second mistake was not placing a bid immediately.

When I next viewed the auction, it had received one bid and the seller had ended the auction early. I checked my email, and found a note from the seller telling me to bid and she would close it early.

What was really annoying was that the seller emailed ME as the winner. I had to explain that I didn't place a bid. Drat.

Moral: If you REALLY want the item, don't wait to bid.

(P.S. No, the seller didn't use BIN and no, she didn't have additional dolls.)

Twinsoft...

I lost my item! I did the vrane snipe thingy, and I wake up this morning, and the seller ended the auction early - with no bids at all. I guess the seller didn't want to risk selling it at the minimum opening bid... (Her buy it now was more than double the start bid, but it didn't have a reserve)

I emailed her asking if she plans on relisting it...

sigh.... I'm so bummed this morning... I guess I should have bid last night.

IT WORKS GREAT!!...I travel a lot and am not often at home when the auctions I want end so I use Vrane snipe tool almost exclusively....to ensure it will get a timely bid. Vrane has some WONDERFUL auction tools that are just as useful. I recently discovered their power relister feature and that is wonderful. Sorry if I sound like a cheerleader...don't mean to...but it really is a great service......Pam

Sorry about this late reply, I went to bed early

The toys I'm looking for are mostly from the mid to late '70's. I sometimes also look for GI Joes from the 60's, but not that much, as I wasn't even been born yet!

Sorry folks------MY TAKE ON THE ORIGINAL POSTED MESSAGE is nothing more then a advertisement for VRANE!!!!!!!!!!!

As the original poster, I'm offended. I don't have anything to do with vrane. I'm not even a satisfied user - as you will note in a previous message to yours, I lost my item because I did use it. Not a glowing endorsement if you ask me.

edited to fix ubb code.

I've been looking for a snipe tool, so this topic is very timely. I just went to the vrane page and found it to be impressive. It looks very simple and I like the idea that they don't have your password stored at their site. I definitely will test it out.
