I need to know if anyone made the Miss Revlon dolls other than Ideal. I have a doll which is fully flanged(head turns from side to side when she walks). There is a number on the back of the head but its hard to make out(possibly 17).
Any clues?????

There were many companies making dolls similar to Miss Revlon in the late 1950's. If you can make out the mark I may be able to help you. Could it be 14R ? How big is the doll you are talking about? Does it have the jointed waist?Picture?

I know Ideal dolls pretty well - I collect them.
Ideal manufactured the Miss Revlon dolls exclusively, since they purchased the license from Revlon.
BUT, like with some of the earlier Ideal dolls, like Shirley Temple, they would "shop out" premanufactured complete dolls (and doll parts) to other companies, sometimes without mould marks or with mould markings rubbed out.
At the end of the most of their vinyl doll production life, when they would no longer produce the doll or had the license to produce, Ideal would sometimes wholesale leftover dolls to other companies for resale. They did this with Tammy (I've seen an Ideal Tammy in a baggie repackaged for another manufacturer).
But, there were an awful lot of "copycat" Miss Revlons back then as well. Unfortunately, one of the best ways to know if you have a true Miss Revlon is, of course, the markings on the back of the head and/or original clothing (should be tagged "Ideal Toy Corp/Hollis, NJ".
