I am a "no international sales" seller (yeah, I know all the reasons why I should sell internationally, but truth be told, I'm just a really really generous person & figure if I "don't" sell internationally, I will be giving the rest of you international sellers more business! )...ANYWAY, back at the end of November, I had an auction winner from Japan. The buyer had a good feedback record & was pretty quick on EOA messages...so, I accepted the sale....Now, this buyer email'd me that their payment would be mail'd out "International Registered Mail" on December 8....To date, I have received no payment or notification from the PO that I have a registered letter to pick up....My question to you all: What is the typical timeframe for an International Registered Mail letter to arrive in NY from Japan?...

Not sure if registereed mail can be shipped air mail ony or if it can go surfice as well.
I deal with international sale pretty often air mail is 3 to 7 pretty much no matter where you ship so long as the Item dont get tangled up in customs this would be 1 to 1 1/2 weeks in business days.
7 to 15 days if it was sent surfice or roughly 2 to 2 and 1/2 weeks.
Items comeing from over seas to the US tend to move faster I have never had to wait longer the 8 day to receive payment buy standard mail from the few who decided to send money rathr then use bidpay or other options.
The holidays may have slowed this mail down but its doubtfull you might want to check with The post office and see if maybe they have this letter for you incase the pick up receipt for one reason or another never made it to you.
I have seen these small notice buried in bundles of mail fall out on to the ground when they stuffed the box also fall out while bring the mail from the box to the house and not be noticed.
in any case if you find nothing for you at the postoffice send off email asking the buyer if it was sent cause you still dont have it at this time.

Five to eight days. But most of my Japanese bidders have mailed payment by Express Mail with signature needed. Really FAST!...
Looks like it may have been detained due to the holiday rush.

Thanx folks....I pretty much figured that this was late...will have to contact the buyer & see if something happened on his end...
I really don't mind late payments, hey stuff happens...but in this case I was offered 2x the winning bid by a bidder who couldn't get into eBay during the time this auction ended (eBay semi-outage)...an offer I, of course, turned down because it had been won fair & square...but I'll tell ya, havin' the payment be so late doesn't make this transaction very easy!...
