It suddenly struck me that I have no idea what to do about my Personal Gallery link.

The personal Gallery {not Galley )was never part of the Ebay system. It is something which was achieved through "tweaking".

What happens now? Anyone using it knows the answer? Can we still use it? There are NO Email Addresses listed when using the Gallery.

And another venting: That new "No Email" thingy is so bloody ridiculous: Considering how many sellers list only a small fraction of the necessary info a bidder needs, having to use the Ask Seller A Question then click here and there and everywhere just to retrieve a bloody addy is a deterrant. Last night I found I would have had to Email 7 Sellers before I could contemplate placing a bid...Sure, I still would have had to write the Sellers, but it sure would have been easier had there been an Addy Link on the listings...That's going to be so GREAT for business!!!!

Edited for dumb spelling

Sorry for the long vent...

Hi Shoshanah

Save yourself all of those quarters! I dumped my "personal gallery" when Auctiva Showcase came along. It's the same thing, but FREE.

Thanks, vargas....However, I do not use nor do I want to use an Auction-Listing software. I have my one, basic HTML table wich has worked well for me.

What does Auctiva do? Do you have a listing you could show me?

Does that software show a "Gallery" of all your listings? I have no problem with the quarter: my Personal Gallery has repaid me many times over. My question is: Can a Personal Gallery, any GALLERY, still be used on Ebay.

Thanks a bunch

I find the new way to get email isa pain as you have to jump through hoops just to just to get winners email if you login ebay through the my ebay link.

Email addresses should be made visable to buyer and seller without useing passwords to see them no matter how you login to your ebay account.

I will probably go back to adding a email link to all my auctions as I feel all who look at my auctions should be able to email questions with out jumping through hoops.

Unregistered users who may not register if they cant ask sellers question frist should be able to Email this would be in Ebays best interest I would think.

anyone with A spam -A- Phobia shouldnt be registered anywhere on any website to sell anything includeing there own registered domain.

I'm with you, I don't have time to mess with new software. Plus, I work from different computers in different locations.

That's what's really nice about Auctiva Showcase-- it's not software. It's an online service that automatically grabs your auction listings from eBay and builds a personal gallery for you. It takes less than five minutes to fill out the templates and BAM! You have a free showcase. Plus, your listings automatically get a link to your showcase.

Thanks again, vargas....

My problem is: if showing a link to my personal gallery, displaying all my listings, is forbidden by Ebay (I don't know that is it..) , then what Auctiva would produce would ALSO be forbidden, right? So, I would run the risk of having all my auctions pulled..

When you have some listing on Ebay, could you please email me one? I am pretty dense sometimes, and I need to see exactly what it will show on Ebay. I can't seem to be able to visualize this Thanks again You're great...

Auctive is ok with ebay so long as you dont lump yahoo or other auction togeather only give your ebay info to acutiva.

I use it and in just a few days my bidding and veiws on all auction incressed .

there is no way of knowing if auctiva was the reason for this incress but bidding was lower before I used it.

Shosh:

What do you mean by: showing a link to my personal gallery, displaying all my listings, is forbidden by Ebay?

Hi Shoshanah...

Can't you still do a Personal Gallery Link by putting your email address in your ad? I sure hope so...that's a great marketing tool.

Preacher...Hi...Not seen you for a while...
Well, with Ebay's new rulings, I am trying to avoid disaster by getting a little ahead of the game. I don't know if they still allow you to show all your listings.
I just relisted one thing for a trial out, and within an hour, it had my Gallery with a link to Auctiva...With Ebay's personal Gallery, it sometimes take 24 hours... So, I am going to be a happy camper... and YES! I saved a quarter...

Toke...Hi to you too..

I believe Ebay does not want your Addy in your listings anymore, so that they, and only THEY can control who contacts who and for what reason. One has to go through the "Ask Seller a Question" link", from what I understand. I am a little fuzzy on that one...

I spent quite some time browsing last night, and could not seem to see any Email addresses on any listings. Perhaps it was just a fluke that I happened to hit listings which never put addy before...

You can see the Auctiva thingy if you go to my "about Me" page link and click on the one auction I just listed.

Shoshanah

In answer to your initial question, I wasn't aware that you couldn't put an email addie in your listings. Does anyone know for sure?

But in any event, the gallery can work with any key word; I never have used my email addie as a key word. I have a unique phrase in my auction listings. Then just to be on the safe side, I check my gallery from time to time to make sure I am not picking anyone else's listing up.

Regarding getting email addies of a seller, if you are logged in it is just a 2 click process. As a seller, I make this a one click process by putting and email link on all my listings.

Shosh...

Oh, brother. That would figure. I have an ad program I use, that uses a colored table. I'm just going to leave my email link in there, and see what happens. Going to start listing again this week...let you know if they zap me!

I hate to lose the thumbnail Gallery pics in the category listings, or I'd go with the Auctiva thing, too. We'll see...may have to anyway. Thanks for the heads up...

cdnbooks....Thanks...Yes, I used to do my gallery the same way as you, not by using my Email. But with Ebay forbidding Seller/Bidder contact, to ensure we do not sell "outside" of Ebay, who knows what the next "don't" is gonna be

They really are becoming paranoid and a royal pain! I always try to be fair and not froth at the mouth, but I am fast losing my patience

I will enjoy the Auctiva thingy because it shows up so much faster than Ebay's Personal Gallery...Love it.

Ok, I get it. Glad I don't use my email addy as my Personal Gallery codeword.

I already signed up my Auctiva showcase and it looks neat.

Upside: Saving a lot of quarters
Downside: No eBay gallery exposure.

Shosh, do you think Auctiva will give me some credit for it? (Heh...)

Vargas,
Thank you for the link. I went there and signed up immediately. Money saving ideas are always appreciated!

I did a search on the phrase "Please email me if you have any questions at". Over 9,000 listings resulted from the search. Most of the ones I looked at had an email address included in the auctions description. A few also had addresses and telephone numbers. A few of the listings had links to their Auctiva Showcase. The showcases looked pretty good!

Sure Preacher.... Love CREDITS on FREE thingies....

As far as the down side, it is not that bad, because if a bidder looks for, say, a Gold widget, and finds yours, then by clicking on your Auctiva Link, they still get to see all your Ebay Listings with all the thumbprints. The key is having them find you...People who know you will always check with you, have no fear; at least, it seems to work for me. I guess it depends on what on sells; my field is pretty limited, so collectors go to that category right away.

The Auctiva.com showcase feature has prices and current bid info in my gallery. The others that just came out dont.

I've been using Auctiva.com since October and things have been running nicely. It's a godsend that it doesnt take any work. Just that 5 minute signup like someone else mentioned here and whamo... got my own gallery. Love it!

Shoshanah[b/] I have to disagree with this statement. In a powerseller newsletter (below) eBay tells you how to put a gallery in your listings. [b]Has this changed

The personal Gallery {not Galley )was never part of the Ebay system. It is something which was achieved through "tweaking".

From Powersellers Newsletter dated May 24 2000

Creating Your Own Gallery on eBay

Did you know that you could have your own personal Gallery of items
on eBay? What a great way to showcase the items that you have
listed in the eBay Gallery. To create your own Gallery, simply follow
these steps:

Step 1: Insert a unique phrase or word in the item description of each
of your items. We suggest using your email address.

Step 2: Find the link to your Gallery items (this will only need to be
done once):
a) Go to the gallery search page.
b) Insert your unique phrase or word (from step 1) into the search field.
c) Click on the 'Search titles and descriptions' box and click on
'Search'.
d) The link to your Gallery items can be found in the Address window,
which is also known as the Location or URL window. Copy this link.

Step 3: Insert a link to your Gallery items into your item description
using HTML tags:
<A href="Paste the link from Step 2d here"><B>Click Here to See Our
Items We Have for Sale in the eBay Gallery</B></a>

Following these three steps will create your own personal eBay
Gallery. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. This is just
another way to show off your items to your bidders.

Yes, I've also seen text like that promoted by eBay on their message boards. Quite a few times in fact.

Can a Personal Gallery, any GALLERY, still be used on Ebay.

If the gallery is of the items you're selling on eBay, of course it still can be used on eBay. Heck, eBay itself puts a link on your items to your other eBay auctions.

OK, I looked at Shoshanah Auctiva listings and I like what I see.

One question??? Is it ok to put the Auctiva link inside the "Description" section instead of at the bottom of the page?

Many bidders never get that far. As you all know they will send an email asking questions that are answered in the description section of your auctions.

This would give better exposure.

rampaged: Here is the Auctiva Showcase FAQ:

(The answer is 'yes'.)

Note, too, the very last entry on the page, about eBay's "two click" policy.

Thanks Glenda

I read the FAQ page but wanted to make sure before I jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

I would hate to have 400 plus auctions closed because I wasn't playing by the rules. It wouldn't be worth it.
