I bought some new prisms to go on an old chandelier, and the little brass wires are so shiny and new looking. Is there a way to darken the brass so that they are a better match with the old prisms?

Remove the wires and soak them for a while in Parson's Sudsy Ammonia (in a covered container so the fumes don't drive you nuts).
Soaking them in a dishwasher detergent also prematurely ages them.

Couldn't I just soak the whole prisms? I can't imagine removing all those tiny wires. About how long would they have to soak?
