Hi everyone--

This should not come as too big of a surprise but our webmail service is being discontinued tomorrow, Ferbuary 1, 2001. Please read the following that went out to impacted customers today:

As of February 1, 2001 we will no longer be offering webmail with the "@myauctionwatch.com" address service through our website. We have sent out two previous notices to insure that all users have plenty of time to change their e-mail addresses stored with AuctionWatch.com and with partner sites such as eBay, Amazon, Yahoo and others before the cutoff date. If you have already made these changes, please disregard this final notice.

We've set up a web page that will walk you through the necessary steps to insure that both personal and auction business you conduct through your "@myauctionwatch.com" e-mail account is transitioned effectively before the cutoff date tomorrow, February 1, 2001.

If you have not yet made these changes, be sure to click this link http://www.auctionwatch.com/webmail/landing.html and follow the instructions.

As a courtesy, AuctionWatch.com will automatically re-direct your "@myauctionwatch.com" e-mail to the e-mail address you set as your Primary e-mail at our site. We will only be re-directing e-mail until Mar 1, 2001.

We hope to see you on the site soon, and look forward to providing you with our powerful auction buying and selling tools.

Regards,

Chris Barker
Vice President, Customer Service
AuctionWatch.com

you know, since day one of being online, I've ALWAYS hated the trend of naming sites, email, etc. "my(fill in the blank)" It just seems like something preschoolers would say! Not to mention the fact that it looks unprofessional---I would never give a employer to be or a professional reference an email of mine that was "(whatever)@my(whatever)". what were the marketers thinking? Sorry, but brighid868@MYauctionwatch doesn't make me feel any warmer or fuzzier about auctionwatch.com than a more professional sounding "[email protected]" would have......it just makes me feel like you think I've got a big wet diaper on and I need "special help".....

haha,

brighid868, that was funny. "My" is even in ebay. "My Ebay"

"...the first thing we do is we fire all the marketers....."

... starting with the direct marketers (see my .sig -- not to mention a large fraction of my other notes ).

I too don't like the "my" stuff. Sounds too ego-pretentious and childish (sort of the same thing) at the same time. I think it started (computer-wise) with "My Computer" (gag, I changed this immediately). I refer to My eBay as "Recordkeeping" on the page of auction links I keep on my hard drive. Now Microsoft has Windows ME, which stands for Millenium Edition but looks like, well, "Windows Me!" If they had to call it something like that, I think Windows Millenium would have sounded better.

Sorry, not really ragging on AW, just agreeing the "my" stuff is too cutesy.

----
What's being done in the name of direct marketing nowadays is crazy.
The above are all just my opinions, except where I cite facts as such.
Oh, I am not dc9a320 anywhere except AW. Any others are not me.
Is eBay is changing from a world bazaar into a bizarre world?
