My typical selling method on eBay is to list all my products on a thursday night, set it on 10-day auction, kick back on sunday and watch all my auctions end. Then it dawned on me, is the weekend really the best time to end a auction? I just assumed that since it is the weekend, everybody would fire up their computers because they'd be tired out from a exhaustive work week. And yes, we all know what it means to assume does don't we? Which day has been your lucky day on eBay? Has it been during the week, because everybody is out partying on the weekend or was my assumption right? I'd love to hear from you!!!

Hi...good question
Sunday works well - recently, past couple of months, I've been listing at about 8am est. or earlier so they close during the early morning - like 2-3 am
It seems to be working....

My lucky day was August 13th, the auctions that ended then were GRRRR-EATTT! If you can time all your auctions to end then, I'm sure you will do very well. Perhaps if you just write descriptions & take photos for 51 weeks, then bulk upload so that they all end on August 13th, you'll have all your income at one time for the next year.

upriver....

I like it....except I was just thinking of all the packing....maybe I could add a TOS that stated -

If you are the winner of this auction, please provide your date of birth. Since I only list my auctions once a year, I ship on your birthday to avoid packing hassles. So, Happy Birthday and Happy Bidding!!!

Talk about personalized sales.....

Bargaineer .. I do the Th - Sun 10 day just as you do. Now I can use BIN .. works great with the 'impatient' Well, I do that on 99.5% of my auctions.

I'm selling something different than usual right now and asked in a thread elsewhere "When do Mom's shop?" The majority answer was nap time. Well, that sounded good until I started thinking a little more. My kids napped at about 11 am. My granddaughter naps at around 1 pm. I, on the other hand, nap whenever I feel like it!

So .. waiting to see how this batch ends up .. it's spread all over the place.

Will probably go back to my Th - S 10 days with BIN, ending between 9:30 and 11:30 EST! I hate change and I hate thinking that much!

Edited to add: August the 13th is good! That's my anniversary!

I've never tried the Thursday-Sunday thing. The only problem that I can see with it now, is that ebay charges $.10 extra to run a ten day auction. Since I do about 60 auctions per week, that's an extra $6.00 above the usual listing.

I used to run my auctions for 7 days, ending on Sunday night. Recently however I've switched to 7 day auctions ending on Monday afternoon and night and seems to be getting higher bids and more stuff is selling. It could be that because I sell to horse people, they are all out riding or going to horse shows over the weekends. Also lets you take advantage of an entire night of Sunday night auction-checkers.

I have been away from eBay for almost a year, oh I've listed a few things, but basically moved all my auctions to Yahoo, as we were doing fantastic over there till Yahoo decided to commit suicide.

WHEN I was listing on eBay, I did 7 days auctions, normally ending on Sunday evening. But since coming back I tried 7 and 10 days auctions with the BIN, and found no one really did anything till the last couple of days, so I am going to try 3 day listings next. Because we have counters on our web site I've noticed a viewing trend and think I'll follow that for a while and see how things go. 99% of my auctions are BIN, as we had found that so successful on Yahoo.

I ALWAYS try to include Mondays since many people bid from work. Why lose the potential? Also, since it's customary that ebay goes down on Sunday nites, I need the extra day or two to make up for their loss.

7 day auction stink if it were not for BIN

May be a dumb question but what does BIN mean in some of the threads?

bargaineer actually that is a very subjective topic. I've tried to quantify that through the use of polls (there's one up now asking that very question at http://www.auctionbytes.com)

And there is also an auction calendar (again subjective) at http://www.auctionbytes.com/Email_Newsletter/calendar/calendar.html
