I've been selling a few items at auctions for fun. I enjoy buying and selling on the online auctions. How can i get info on selling full time? (like registering with the state etc.)

There is an excellent line of books "How to Start a Small Business in _______" (fill in the blank for your state."

The books outline, in plain English, what's required in certain states, to start a small business (what you need to do locally and at the state level).

Unfortunately, these books are not available for every state.

In addition, your local (city or county) government will have requirements that may be outlined on its web site. Business license requirements vary from one local jurisdiction to another.

Information on getting a resale/tax permit should be on your state's web site.

Good luck.

Your State Comptrollers Office is usually a good place to start. Most of them have all kinds of pamplets about the tax end of business.
