Can anyone tell me what to call the shape of these cups? They're square on the bottom but round on the top. Gold trim and a purple floral pattern on front. No maker's mark. I hate to list them as "Roundish Squarish cups with gold trim!"

Not a very exciting name but I think they are called "square". There is also one called a "French" cup which sounds a bit more exotic but I am not entirely sure if it is a square shape or not.

Yours may be made in Japan in the 1950's? Hopefully someone else can help you.

are those violets or pansies? whichever it is, list it in the title....tons of people search on those flowers. I know a person named Violet who searches on violet/violets every day.
