Anyone know of one. A moderator here helped me imagehost here, but I can't afford the fees. Where is everyone else going?

Jenny, most of us who stop using AW for images will most likely use either the space we have through our ISP's, or other free web site areas.

Can anyone help those of us without the know-how with how to create templates for our auctions? I see that someone mentioned using Front Page software. Any instructions on how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated by many I'm sure.

My ISP generously provides me with 1 meg of web hosting. For $30 a month, I can purchace 4 more megs. So that is not an option.

Geocities is stopping hosting for outside areas.

Has auctionwatch just made me unemployed?

If you have Micrsoft Office, Word can be saved as WebPage and cut and paste into ebay. There's also fairly inexpensive software out there in the stores to create simple pages that can be used. The only problem I had when I did this was that if I needed to revise something later, I had trouble with the E-Bay side. (plus you get spell checker with Word)

I use Netscape Composer and I love it. It's free as part of the Netscape Communicator download. You can download it for free here:

For free image hosting you can try auctionworks. (Add a dotcom to that...)

If you list through them there's a fee, but just the image hosting is free.

I don't have an ISP, so I had to find an alternative a while back. Tried a bunch--this was the best that I could find.

Netscape is a good choice for listing auctions - it's more eBay-friendly than IE is. Page Composer, part of the Communicator package, is very good for composing listings and other web pages. Netscape is also good for plain ol' web browsing.

One MAJOR point: Do NOT get version 6 of Netscape. Get the previous version, 4.76. Version 6 looks pretty, but it's a bug-fest.

A caveat if you are going to create listings in any html editor, such as Page Composer: Create the page, then save it. Then bring it up in a text editor such as WordPad and copy ONLY the part between - NOT including - the body tags, then paste it into the description box at eBay.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. You guys are great! I will be looking into these options, although the technicalities of how to use these methods bother a new user's mind. ) I hope that it will be evident once I get a chance to explore the suggestions here. Any specific suggestions on the inexpensive software out there, or is this not allowed either?

another software does everything that another online service does that is also good but this other software is from another company and another person told me that I could not say another thing about another company.

[email protected]

That was quite iritating wasn't it? Sorry, I could not help it. I really am not aloud to say names, I was warned....

I've been using Invenna's AuctionAmigo to list & manage. Their price is going up, but it is supposed to be a one-time fee (& cheaper if you buy it before March 9).

Look around--there are other similar programs out there...

I bought Web Studio a while back for 24.95, I haven't tried it yet (I'll start tomorrow now) but it says No html programming required, 31000 graphics, 2200 backgrounds, 1500 animations, 300 sounds, easy drag and drop design' sounds like my speed.

We're not allowed to mention names?

You can upload images to a website let's call it: "X" (rhymes with HHomestead). Each pic uploaded to website X will be assigned a URL. Copy the URL and when you go to list on eBay paste it into the "Picture URL" field
on the form. That's all there is to it and you don't have to have an ad for website X in your auction ad. Website X is gives you 25 megs of space for free.

This option won't work exclusively for me because I already ran over once, but a company that is known for its Honesty (of course purely a subjective statement) offers free hosting for less than 3 MG of space.

That might be the place for some of you smaller sellers.

When I first started selling on eBay I needed to learn everything about HTML, FTP, image creation, photo editing and auction templates because I was brand new to the use of computers and the World Wide Web. I knew absolutely nothing!!

I found www.pongos.com (listed on eBay as a help site) to be the MOST useful to me and I believe it's still a great site to learn all of the things necessary for listing auctions. I remember having a ball using Pongo's practice board to try out my new talents. (bolding, spacing, font type & size, color, tables, etc.)

I searched the web for "auction templates" and found a few free basic forms that I downloaded and then I expanded and enhanced them as my HTML knowledge grew. I now have about 10 different templates saved in text form and when I list an item I just type the info in the relevant spaces and copy and paste it into eBay's listing form.

Here are a few other helpful sites which are free and are great sources for HTML help and how to add pictures, color backgrounds, borders, etc. to your auction templates. I'm not going to use links because I don't want to piss off AW. Just copy and past the URL into your browser window:

http://www.adtemplate.com (free templates)
http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/wcdc
http://www.eobcards.com/tutorial3.htm
http://www.mountaindragon.com/html/htminfo.htm (also has a practice window)
http://members.tripod.com/jncwolf/HTML.htm

Have FUN!!

Blanche

I guess they are all more liberal than mark. I had a post that just mentioned Invenna AuctionAmigo (which is the best Auction Management/Listing tool I have used conisdering its only $39.99) and they deleted my post and thread over and over again. That is why got me mad in the first place...

Does Zing allow auction picture hosting? Some services delete your account if they catch you doing that...

As other people have said. The best way to host your images is to have a hosting service or a free website. That is what I do.

and I love it. It's easy to use and understand. If you need to learn HTML, give this site a try. I think that you'll really like it. It's all copy and paste format and is soooo easy to use!!
