I found some close-out plastic mailing envelopes at office max, but when I went back to get some they were sold out. Tyvek envelope prices were mind-boggling. so where do you get the best prices?

dickw,
I'm really sorry to have had to delete your post but it is against the CG's to mention any auction I.D. no matter what the reason. Also, it be construed as promotional.

Do a search on eBay. You will find several people who sell packing supplies of all types for very competitive prices. If you like, email me & I will give you the name of the one I usually buy from. Click on my ID to get my addy.

glassgrl: I just answered your email--let me know if you got it as I've heard AOL sometimes blocks Earthlink emails. IF not, I'll go through Angelfire.

I don't know about envelopes because I use priority when possible, but for packing peanuts. air bags and bubble wrap, I just put the word out in my neighborhood newsletter. There are quite a few people who order from catalogs and I am happy to help them recycle their packing materials and get the clutter out of their way.
Also, if you know anyone who is a distributor for those home party type products, they usually get TONS of packing material when they get their orders in and would probably be willing to give or sell it to you at a good price. I get some this way along with some great boxes!

Well... this is the first that I've peeked in at AW in a couple of days. I'm surprised that folks can't even discuss where they recommend obtaining their packing materials for shipping eBay items out - without some form of moderation.
What on earth is this "Auction Discussion Forum" coming to???
A waste of time to even be here! *sigh*

Not sure where to TYVEK envelopes but for other shipping supplies...
I've ordered from:
http://www.gatorpack.com
Prices seem reasonable, he's(the owner) friendly and ships fast. Not sure if he still sells on ebay but his website has lots of supplies on it!
Hope this helps someone!

If you are buying in any quantity set up an account with a local shipping supply company.
They don't need recover costs of a retail storefront and you'll save the cost of shipping by picking up your supplies yourself.

thanks so far, I'm looking at all of them. But has anybody seen orange day-glo "fragile" stickers like they have at the post office? the red white and blue ones don't look very eye catching.....

I buy my packing materials from Office Max.
I've found that they have the best prices. In comparison, a $2.00 box through Mail-boxes etc costs only .80 cents through Office Max. I also like to recycle things in my home. I put aside old newspapers for stuffing and also put aside packing boxes. It saves me a lot of trips to the store.

When I was selling alot of glass I found a very inexpensive way for bubble wrap. solar pool covers! They are extremely inexpensive for the amount you get. Just make sure you have room to store it!

My best bubble wrap is found at TJ MAXX. They have bubble wrap that is perforated in easy to handle sizes and slightly sticky so that it clings. Best of all it's free! Sometimes they even have bubble wrap bags and peanuts.
