I think it means something of a passing interest...but I'm not sure what that would be! Sorry I'm not much help...that's just what I've picked up along the way.

Something that is ephemeral is a thing that is generally only intended to be around for a very short time period.
Paper ephemera is items that were not intended for permanent record, like a one-day theater flyer -- things like that were generally not saved -- today's posters plastered on construction site walls announcing a rock group performance at a clud would be ephemera, if saved & auctioned 20 years from now.

My understanding of the term is that ephemera is an item that was created to be used for its specific pupose and then discarded. An item that was not intended to be preserved and having no intended redeeming value beyond its initial use (for example, a coupon, entertainment ticket, weekly pass, etc has value only for its initial use, once it expires or is redeemed it then becomes valueless). Since so much of it has been thrown away or destroyed, and so much was printed or paper material, which is easily ruined, many such items are rare and have great value as memorabilia. Perfect items to enter the realm of collectability.

I think she was the greek goddess of storage. She new that someday there would be a ridiculous place where people would gather to charge enormous ammounts of money for otherwise worthless junk.
