I have a prospective buyer who after he won the auction ask me if he could use UPS...since he had a UPS account. I said OK. I proceeded to call UPS and arrange for a pick-up and was told that it would have to be arranged from the other end. I relayed the message to the buyer , he then proceeds to tell me I must deliver the package to UPS, about an hour away from here. Whats wrong with this picture? Anybody ever run into anything like this? I don't think I will agree to anything other than my tos from now on..

I am in Canada. When there is a situation like this and he has the account with UPS he arranges for pick-up on his end. He then gives us an authorization # and UPS picks the package up at our business and we give them the package and the #.

It is not your responsibility to drive an hour away to do this. Some bidders! Gee!

Tell him if he wants UPS he must have it picked up at your house. Explain to him it's a two hour drive to & from. He should understand. If he won't arrange it tell him you have to go with the USPS. I can't believe he would expect you to do that just to save him a few dollars in postage.

I would tell him I will gladly deliver his item to the UPS site - for either mileage or a per hour rate for delivery.

What he has to do is call UPS and issue a "call tag" Then, they will come and pick it up at your house. The shipping expense, and expense of the call tag will be charged to his UPS account.

Geesh. You'd think he would KNOW that!!

Hi Jim, I bet we had the same buyer are they from California? After my auction was over I was emaied with all the shipping specs by them. Ups was insisted upon and they also specified they had an acount with ups. I was told by UPS to have them issue a call order, they would not and insisted I do it at my end, they alo gave me the rate they said it would cost UPS. Boy, were they off, After I stood on line for I do not know how long at UPS. Then they said they were not going to pay more than that because they get a busness rate and that is all it should cost. To make matters worse they took the liberty to have UPS contact me to open an account. I was so new, did not know about these boards, did a stupid thing and wrote back about how hard it would be for me to get to UPS, again, quite a distance stand on line. I have a husband re-couperatng from 2 major operations, etc.(which is true.) I would have to contact ebay and end the sale by saying they refused my shipping terms. They told me to send priority but gave me another shipping address. Said it was a next door neighbor who would be home to receive it. I checked their feedback quite a few negs, stating un-reasonable shipping requests after end of auction. If I had known about these boards or had a little bit more sales time under my belt, I think I would have saved myself some very unecessary communications. I would stand my ground your auction, your terms.
