For the first time ever, a package I sent to a winning bidder has been returned to me as undeliverable. The address has been double-checked, as given by the bidder; I've tried to contact her by e-mail and not gotten a response.
I've gone round and round in Safe Harbor, My Ebay, and Feedback Forum (I've already left feedback, though), and cannot find a link where I can contact the high bidder without saying she has failed to pay. She did pay.
Where can I go to request contact information without breaking the rules? ~Adele

If that doesn't work, try going to one of the white pages sites on the web or reverse lookup & entering the name and/or address. You might get a telephone number from there.
I believe AT&T ( www.worldnet.att.net ) and BellSouth www.bellsouth.com are two places where you can search for directory info.

You did everything right, the fault is on their end. Just sit back and wait till they contact you. Make sure they pay you to reship it. No point in you taking the loss for their screwup.

I agree with GS4 as I had the same problem about 10 months ago. A buyer in Sri Lanka purchased an antique map, paid with BidPay, and had me ship it to a friend in San Francisco. Three weeks later it was returned as undeliverable. I contacted buyer to reconfirm address (it was correct) and mailed it again at my expense. Three weeks later it is once again returned. I kept it this time and have never heard from the original buyer since and that was 7 months ago.

hi anthro1966
i shipped about 10 items within a 4month time period to shri lanka. The postal system in shri lanka is pretty bad, items would arrive a week or two late but not one package was lost. i do know that they did have some sort of civil unrest in that country when i shipped the items out. If you ever shipout to that part of the world i recommend that you use your printer to printout the address.

Besides double-checking the address against the one given by the bidder, did you VERIFY the address for Post Office standards to make sure it's a valid address?

Granee: I've bookmarked the info you gave--thanks!
Eventer: I used your advice about getting the contact information, and, lo and behold, there is a name (first and last) that never showed up in any of the communications between me and this buyer. Same email address I've been using all along. I've emailed her and asked for clarification. Yikes.
As usual, I thank all of you for your helpful suggestions. I looooove this site. Adele
