On the "Sell Your Item" form, the default used to be "No, I will not accept escrow." eBay just changed it to "Yes, I accept escrow for items above $500, if buyer pays the fees."

Interestingly, if you leave it like that and proceed to the "New Item Verification" page, the escrow box reads simply: "Escrow accepted, buyer pays fees." The conditional "for items over $500" seems to disappear. I don't know what it looks like on the final page if you leave it like that and hit submit, though.

Anyway, if you don't want to deal with escrow, make sure you change the setting before submitting your auction.

Hey Spaz,

I brought this up last week when the post hit the AB, and my thread scrolled off the map without a single comment.

Just trying to save this thread from suffering the same fate.

Hi Neil,

I must have missed yours. This one seems headed for the same fate.

Maybe folks figure they can afford to worry about it after they sell that $500 item.

Folks seem to be more interested in excessive shipping fees lately?

Hello Minx .... Did you get my email last week? Hope all is well with you & yours.

Spaz...

Thanks for this thread. I missed reddeer's, so I had no idea. There is no way I would ever use escrow. Thank heaven I wasn't listing...I might have missed this cute little move.

Just goes to prove that you need to read the listing page carefully, at least as you post the first auction of the day.

They seem to be in "quick change" mode, lately.

Spaz...

Thanks for the thread. I missed Reddeer's also, or maybe I read it and it just didn't click in the brain as Escrow isn't a option of importance to me......'til yesterday!

The default setting ruined my whole day, wiped out any chance of listing (listing from AW, that is). Good thing I check my listings before launching. I wanted to launch an auction between 10:00am & noon CDT...time was important. I was shocked to see the option: *Escrow accepted: Yes, buyer will pay for escrow*..WHAAAAAT??
I never, never, never have or will use Escrow...went to review my default settings..
nothing there. SHOULD have posted here, went to Services instead. Lean pickins' over there...little activity. No solution offered *Seems to be a global problem, engineering is working on it*. One other confused seller and I sat there all day waiting to launch. It was repaired at 6:30pm CDT. I'd already given up, decided to go back to my old-days tried and true straight eBay launching/FTP.

Anyway...to make a *short story long*, with my limited computer skills, yesterday was an ESCROW NIGHTMARE.

Thanks to all for your great posts on this board
