What does everyone think of Ebay;s constant addition of categories?

I think it is killing my business in clothing. It prevents people browsing because everything now is so specific. You can list in "general" and the specific category but then you get hit with double the fees.

I also sell Egyptian perfume bottles and have listed them in Collectibles-Vanity-Perfume and sometimes in art glass general. They sell much better in Vanity. To my chagrin I discovered Ebay came up with new categories and "vanity-perfume" is now listed under- Collectibles-VINTAGE CLOTHING-Vanity-Perfumes. Makes alot of sense, huh?
Under Vintage Clothing???

Where do you put new perfume bottles? Who is making these decisions? They should be sent up the river on a raft! Ebay should have left most of it alone.

I am convinced that they are just dreaming up these new categories now to force sellers to list in 2 categories so they will get double listing fees.

BTW - Vintage Perfumes have always been found under Vintage, so I doubt too many people will have a hard time finding them there.
Also, under the main category Vintage, you see several of the sub categories listed, one of which is Vanity Items.

Dresses, Hats, Suits, Ties, Shoes,
Sweaters, Vanity Items…

Where do you put new perfume bottles?

It took me all of 2 minutes to find the proper category for NEW perfume bottles.

Everything Else: Peronal Grooming: Fragrances - Women

Considering I've never bought or sold Perfume, I'd say the average collector shouldn't have too much difficulty finding your items.

The main Collectible page & all the various categories can be found on eBay's Home Page.

No, the everything else category is for fragrances. Underneath it is brands like Chanel, etc. This is for actual perfume.
I am talking about decorative perfume bottles/atomizers. The Vanity section was always under Collectibles as it's own category, never under vintage clothing.

My main point is Ebay is going crazy with these specific categories, and I think it's not to help bidders but to encourage sellers to list in two categories so they'll get more listing fees.

Hi sabreena,

I agree with you on this. To put Vanity Items like perfumes, pill boxes, compacts, etc. under Vintage Clothing & Accessories is a bit confusing and I think it should have it's own category.

When I think of Clothing Accessories I don't think of dresser or vanity items.

The "Other Women's Clothing" does sound weird as some others suggested. In all fairness there is "Other Men's Clothing" and lots of other "Other this and that". But everytime I see "Other Women" it makes me smile. I know in some relationships it is bad enough that there is the "Other woman" but does she really deserve her own clothing category?

And in another way it just sounds strange like there is one kind of woman and also another? I know, picky, picky, but it is just one of those things.

Women's Other Clothing? (sounds weird also)
Women's Other Clothing Items?
Other Clothing Items for Women?
