I am at my wits end!! I have been trying to get a different background in my auctions and for the life of me can't figure it out. Sometimes I don't want to use the templates and have a nice background. I have a basket background that I use and I would like to change it. I know I have to have the same html as I have now, but I don't know how to get the different background to go in the auction. I tried saving somebody's background that told me I could,and that's as far as I could get. PLEASE!! Somebody help me!! I saved it in a file but don't know what to do with the .jpg file now.

In the template where you have the basket background, there should be
<blockquote>
<body background="http........."> with the jpg for your basket background; just substitute the jpg file for the new background.
this is the way mine is, and I assume yours is the same or similar.
edited to say - I'm not sure I've answered your question - you need the .jpg file stored wherever you store your images.

I guess I am at a loss on where to store these image files and how to get them into the auction. I found one background, right clicked it and saved it in a file on my desktop. When I went to my auction I substituted the word basket for silk and nothing happened. I figure I am missing a step somewhere along the line!!

margie - Do you use images in your auctions? If so, I assume you have them uploaded to some image-hosting location like at AuctionWatch. You need to store the file with the background in the same way - just as if it was a picture for one of your auctions. The background file will download and appear on the page just as your images do, but the background HTML code you use will make it cover the page.

Thanks, I will see if I can do that. I use AuctionWatch for pictures. I will try and see how to store the background there to, but not sure if I know how to do that. If I could just do it ONE time right then I would have no problem, it's just getting it that the first time!!

pssst....from a bidder....don't use a background.
Not everyone has a highspeed modem, not every computer will see it the way you do, and last but not least, it may clash with text of the auction.
My favorite reasons for hitting the back button on an auction? A florid, horrid, and blinding background.
some folks even use black!
