I am almost at the end of my rope. Out of 13 auctions that finished together almost a month ago I am still waiting for payment on 8. The excuses I have been given have driven me nuts, it seems everyone and their dog are either sick, dying or dead!!
Now tonight I get yet another one. I am so tempted to write back and tell them how I'm real sorry for their misfortune but out of my family of five, all but one of us in the last three weeks has had severe stomach flu and then viral bronchitis and we've even had OUR baby in the hospital, however I still managed to send customers their items ON TIME and quite frankly I couldn't care right now if the grim reaper is ready to cart them away, if they can bid they can pay!
I checked bidding/selling historys and during their 'recent events' they still managed all but one of them to either sell or bid on other items!

Thanks for letting me vent and sorry if I sound like a b***ch but it's just so frustrating.

Yes it is frustrating.

I had several a few weeks ago. All but one eventually came through when I sent "the final" email and said appropriate feedback would be left if they didn't follow through.

The one that didn't follow through? He got the neg he deserved.

Believe it or not, some of my deadbeats have been ebay sellers. Now that's inexcusable.

I gotta tell you about one of the worst buyers I ever encountered, who was a seller on ebay as well. He won an auction of mine for $62.00 or so, and the total including shipping was to have been $67.00. He took a l-o-n-g time to pay, but only sent the $62.00. He "forgot" to pay for shipping. I stupidly sent his item anyway, then emailed to inform him he needed to send the extra $5.00 ASAP. He never sent it, he lied saying he had, then invented all kinds of excuses as to why he would not, including that I sent him "faulty" merchandise.

A real winner, er, weenie. Oh yeah, he got a neg too.

I put the excusses the NPB gave me in the negative feedback I left them:
1) Tranaction incomplete: Bidder has sick father and moved to california...
2) Bidder claim: unable to pay because of stock market crash...

Hopefully they cannot use the same excusses again.

I'd probably do the same atozbiz, but theres always that feeling that maybe just one of them is actually telling the truth and then I'd feel awful, because I don't really mind the odd person not following through if it is something like a family crisis, heck we all have them. But I refuse to believe 9 out of 13 bidders have a death or sick relative in the hospital all in the same week, the odds are better for me winning the lottery!
I know what you mean about some of the worst being ebay sellers, one of mine is just that and when I emailed explaining that I really need payment sent as I'm moving house they are pulling up my contact info, so I email and ask if I can offer any further assistance as ebay has told me they pulled my info and not a reply since. Most of my items are under $15 but this one was a biggie for me, $45, I know for most seasoned sellers you're probably laughing at me saying $45 is a biggie but this is how I supplement my husbands income so I can be a stay at home mom so every little helps.
I'm hesitant to leave negs because there is so much retalitory negs and they hurt a seller generally more than a buyer, especially when you're only up to 92! [ edited by Louissa on Apr 20, 2001 10:11 PM ]

louissa,

if it's any consolation to you, metoometoo. never had so many late payers ... or is that non-payers? they all have good feedback, and one's a seller with nearly 200 positives. only thing i can figure is taxes hit a lot of people. some are starting to dribble in now, so hopefully that'll happen for you as well. hang in there!

I had a buyer whose grandmother was in the hospital. At 30days, I checked her feedback, and she had managed to bid/pay/get pos. feedback on 4 other auctions during that time.

As it turns out, it was **my fault** 'Your method of payment makes it a little difficult since you insist on a money order.' they had to FIND a place to get one and their bank was 25 miles away.

I responded with (basically) You knew the terms going in. Where I live, you can get a money order at the grocery, conveneince stores, and walmart. This is NOT my fault.

I did FINALLY get her payment 40 days after the auction closed, and 10 days after I told her it was off, and I was resubmitting the item. But that was a whole nother can of worms.
