Hi to all.
My daughter in law has inherited a lithograph by Christian Mali. Her grandmother believes it was done in the late 19th century or early 20th.
I have searched the web under lithographs, artist, art studios, museums, and have come up empty handed.
Are any of you aware of this artist? Any idea where on the web I can go? I am off to the library today for search.
I do know the item was restored in the 1950's due to damage received during an earthquake. The item is in Calif. and I am in Ohio so I know nothing more of this.

Christian Friedrich Mali was a German landscape painter (1800s). Although he lived in Munich, he exhibited many works in England including the Fine Art Society, Manchester City Art Gallery and the Royal Hibernian Academy.
If you go to www.google.com and search for "christian mali" quite a few sites comes up. Almost all are in German but google will translate them for you (to the best of it's ability.

The Getty Institute Research Center has this listing for a new book on Christian Mali:
“Die Braith-Mali-Ateliers” (Biberach, 2000) ISBN 3933614031
N6886.B54 B73 2000
Also, to give you a sense of the general value of his work, his paintings apparently have an average value of about $12,000 (source: http://www.artcult.com/indexm_f.htm)
Hope this information helps you a little.
Edited to add: his dates are 1832-1906.
