Bought a scale at auction today. Electric, it stays at 2.5 oz, instead of zero. Can someone tell me how to make it drop to zero? The lights keep flashing...why? It has class, zone codes, special services, written on it. The handwritten model states it as a 5045, if that helps. I think this is one you can make give you the cash amount of postage necessary in addition to weight. It doesn't print postage. Anyone give me a few basic keypunches here?

It should have a "zero" button to zero it out. But it sounds like it's defective-- if it was new consider returning it. BTW- these scales have an electronic chip in them that you can replace as postal rates change.
