If I put a link in one of my auctions to a "movie file" of a boat motor running, would you bother looking? (I don't think I want to put something like this on the auction page, it takes to long to load.)

I know that when I sell a boat motor "face to face" there isn't anything like "lets put it in the tank and run it" My Sony will record "decent" five second movies with sound. Would you hit the link, and wait however long it takes to download if you could see and hear it run?

I probably would if I were interested in boat motors. (No offense, of course, I am just not an outdoors person. Different strokes, different folks.)

Even if I had just casually wandered onto your auction (indoors woman that I am), I would still probably look at it just because I haven't seen many auctions that offer a video to actually show the item working. I think it is a pretty cool idea. You might develop a lot of interest in your motor just from the fact that it seems like such a new idea to show actual video/audio footage. Good luck!

I wouldn't but I'm not one who's big on visiting off the main description page to read TOS or visit About Me pages.

I personally would look at it provided it doesn't take entirely to long to load. I think it is a great idea, if you are able to keep the downloading time reasonable.

>able to keep the downloading time reasonable

How long would reasonable be? My Camera has several settings and can take video clips from 5 to 30 seconds (then the floppy is full) would a minute and a half download be to much?

As long as you use a link so that the video doesn't logjam the listing, I can't see how it could possibly hurt. Very little extra work for you, no extra loading time for the listing (unless the bidder clicks the link), and the possibility of higher bids.

If 25 people look at your listing but only 1 of them clicks the link and watches the video, he just may bid higher (and win) because of what he saw and heard on the video.

If it's a link, AND if I were seriously interested in the motor, I might download the file and play it.

At the point of the link indicate how large the file is (the Sony will record up to 1.4MB) and how long the video clip is.

Even if I weren't interested in the motor, maybe I would download it, just to annoy my co-workers
