Anyone else finding business unusually slow?

While we still continue to move a good amount of product, I've noticed that bids, payments and emails have tapered off a bit.

Many folks are saying that the slowdown in business is dependant on the types of merchandise that sellers are offering, but we sell sunglasses!

Anyone else out there experiencing the same?

I'm glad I'm not alone, (after all misery loves company right?) this past week has been one of the worst I've ever had. Plenty of items that normally get multiple bids are ending with one bid or none at all. I sell a wide variety, both new and vintage, nothing is doing well right now. Here's hoping it picks up soon!

I had the same problem. I had to quit ebay since the postal hike. I put in the option of parcel post or priority. I was nagged about the high priority price, and nagged to death with "where's my item" emails when I shipped parcel. I set up now at the flea markets. There was a guy selling oakley sunglasses like mad at the flea market. My sales there were very good, and even the legal fireworks are selling already! Shipping might be a problem, but like you said it depends alot with the item.

Sales are going quiet well for me. Most of my items are quiet heavy and are shipped priority mail 99% of the time.

I shipped 17 packages this morning from Sunday sales. Shipping cost was $144.80 with the prices ranging from a low of $5.05 to a high of $19.45. Most had insurance and there was only one international sale to Canada.

None of the above were shipped by parcel post.

Things have been fairly brisk for me as well - I find I've had $10-$20 per shot bills at the PO for most of the year - WAY up from last year...
I now have to rope my fiance into making trips to the PO for me so the piles don't get quite so big. 8)

Perhaps if the sun would shine we would do a bit better...

Hmmm...

Sun shines people go outdoors and don't sit their computer shopping for sunglasses as they are out there already. (shopping at fleamarkets for sunglasses I suppose)

Rain (or whatever) comes and people sit at their computer NOT thinking about sunglasses cause of the weather.

Dilemma Computerboy!

Somewhat of a dilemma, but nothing to worry about, as most Sunglass Huts wish they had my level of sales.

The intent was just an observation on current eBay activity (or inactivity).

Sales are slow everywhere for me. Even the bogus bidders/non-paying bidders are not bidding!!

My business has been unusually slow for the past 3 weeks. Very few bids and even less multiple bids of late. DEPRESSING!!!

Hopefully we're dealing with a cyclical downturn that won't last long.

Us online sellers usually sell at significant discounts off retail pricing, so if we're not selling anything, who is?

Perhaphs it is this reason the my 401K has fallen and can't get up...

My auctions ending 4/22 bit big time. But my auctions ending 4/29 already have a better percentage of bids than the 4/22 ones ended with. Go figure...

Business is generally slow for me with auctions ending in the middle of the month. Towards the end of the month and the beginning of the next month, things pick up. So for me, sales are good right now.

I think Uncle Sam had something to do with it. Many people I know, including myself, had taxes to pay this year.

My business this month has been the best ever, I was thinking maybe it was because of Uncle Sam, refund checks, I'm not really sure why? I thought I would have slowed down by now I sell Model trains, I guess there not just for Christmas anymore. E-bay has been getting a lot of good press in many of the Model Train magazines and forums out there. So I think that has hepled.

I gotta go pack some more boxes.

I shipped 40 packages today. This past week over 140. I still consider this slow. I used to list over 1,000 items every week and with another thousand lingering. I still see it slow and dwindeling. Most buyers are becoming sellers and they all only get paid once a week. Higher gas costs, higher fees on ebay and the change of categories through things for a loop last week. I'm going to focus on using Mr Lister until things pick up and then load it up on the site. Until then, I'll let ebay clean house.
