I used buy it now to buy an item..
but there was already one bid on the item.

Techinically, I won the auction..but apparently the person who bid before I used BIN wants the item relisted.

The seller is leaving it up to Ebay.

Has anyone had this happen before? If so, what did Ebay decide?

Thanks!

This is a normal situation if the seller had a reserve on the item with a BIN.

If a bidder places a bid that is below the reserve price then the Buy It Now option is retained...Thus your BIN purchase is valid.

There is really nothing for eBay to resolve as this is the normal procedure...and the seller should sell the item to you.

Thanks for the info!
I checked the auction and there was a reserve on it.

I've been trying to find the info on Ebays help pages but thats like trying to find a needle in a haystack!

Thank you kastern, I didn't realize this either, and I have a BIN item with a reserve auction running now!

I am not sure where on the eBay site this topic is discussed. But here is a reference to an AW article discussing this change in the BIN procedures. Skip down about 7 paragraphs for this information.
