I was just looking through the DVD section of ebay and noticed it looks like a another scam is brewing. A seller outside US is posting tons of DVDs starting at 9.90. All are supposedly brand new and this looks like a scam ebay has seen before...kinda makes you wonder why they continue to let these go on. Just thought I would send out a warning, although I have a feeling most people who post here know better than to fall into this.

Sorry left part out....
After several batches of DVD auctions close, bidders pay and then get nothing except run around and excuses.

They have 0 feedback and are from outside of the US. I would not buy from them.

Hey, Patscouch - what's your problem??? I gave my opinion, that I would not buy from a 0 feedback person from outside of the US.
Perhaps you should go BACK to your couch and take a nap!
Tom: Oh no... not the "S" list! Never been on one of those before! ( "NOT!" ) LOL

There is another new seller of DVDs who is from Singapore but has bidders send their payments to "my cousin in Los Angeles"...
The DVD is then mailed from Singapore.
The problem here is that the DVDs are used Asian releases, but are being advertised as brand new, with no mention of them being from Singapore. The seller is simply re-wrapping them in bad shrink wrap and claiming they are "new and sealed".
When a seller and his product is located outside the US, they ought to be required to make this fact known on the auction page.

I was looking through the DVD section last night for a copy of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and noticed this seller as well as some similar ones. After reading through a few of their ads I don't think they're actually selling DVDs if they are shipping anything at all. I believe that they are actually selling Video CDs (VCDs).

How can you assume its a scam just because they are cheap. I sell most of my DVDs for under $10.00 and I assure you they are all brand new.

I noticed that at least one of these sellers had "VCD" as part of their ebay id, although not in the item description. VCDs are common in asia but I don't think many U.S. buyers would be too pleased once they realized what they bought.

I am not familiar with this particular seller, but I do know that some DVDs' coming from overseas mya not have the correct "region" coding and would be useless in US DVD players...just one more thing to look out for.

Someone earlier asked how it was possible to assume a scam just because the dvds were under $10. I'll give you a short version of what I went through a few months ago. I was rather new to ebay and got suckered into bidding on a ten dollar dvd. The seller had a few positive feedbacks but was listed as being from another country so I emailed first to check the region of the dvds. I was sent a web site that made the seller look like some sort of wholeseller. Anyway I bid and won, then after much run around with emails I never got my dvd. The seller that got me was doing something similar to what several sellers are doing right now posting multiple dvds over several weeks. In my case ebay suspended the seller about a week after my auction closed. Ebay and safe harbor then do nothing as usual because the sales are all less than $25. In my original post I didnt mean to imply that anyone selling dvds for $10 is out to scam somebody. In fact there are a few sellers with hundreds of positive feedbacks that do it. I just meant that anyone who is unestablished is probably too risky to deal with.
