I would appreciate it if some clothing sellers can tell me the difference between the "Misses" and "Petites" categories, please. I have my own ideas of what it means, but I could be wrong. Thank you.

"Misses" sizes fit the average height adult (not "mature" female. I am not sure of the height guidelines. "Misses" clothing comes in even sizes (eg: 8, 10, 12, 14, etc.)
"Petites" are for the shorter adult female. The petite item will be shorter both from neck to waist and in length of pant or skirt than the comparable "misses" item.
I am not primarily a seller of clothing, but it seems to me that the petite sizes are also typically "junior" sizes (5P, 7P, 9P, etc.)
I know this is not complete, but maybe some help ......

Petites can be Misses clothing sizes.
The difference is, petites are usually for those who are 5' 3" and under. Inseams are shorter, arm lengths are usually shorter, etc, yet still sized according to the Misses sizes. the size would be designated lik this: 10P, 12P, etc.

I don't sell clothing but being short I know the difference between Misses and Petites.
Misses sizes are designed and cut for "normal" sized women. Petite sizes are designed for women under 5' 4". The length of dresses and pants are shorter, as are the sleeves, and the clothing is generally proportioned for a smaller person.

Junior sizes are cut smaller in the waist, hips, and bust than Misses or Petite sizes.
I can wear a 4 or 6 petite but usually not a 5 or 7 Junior. Plus the dress and pant lengths or Junior sizes are for designed for "normal" people 5' 4" or taller.

MurphyBird, thanks for pointing that out. I wondered the same thing. I guess it depends on the "backfield yardage."
BTW, there is an air show going on about a mile from my home and jets are flying overhead every few seconds. Nice restful weekend.
