Same scenario happens everyday. RL auction houses to B&M dealers to private collectors, and the circle goes on. It's all in the marketing and presentation.
Ancient manuscripts aside, there are still plenty of things that sell *better* on ebay than other venues.
The trick to staying successful is changing with the trends.

I do great with Leather goods at the Flea Market wouldn't think of giving them away on E-bay like a lot of Sellers do.

I Have found that many time that items at Real auctions only bring 30 to 50 percent of what they predict the item will sell for.
its kind like makeing odds on the horses ...
But I agree with others who say many items will bring more in Flea markets, stores and RL auction, because there are many millions with out computers and most who do have computers have never even been to Ebay or ever bough or puchased anything online at any website.
There are many hunrdreds of thousand of Users on the IRC who rarely if ever use there webbrowser and many of them are still useing older computer with netscape version 1.1 cant even hardly veiw the web.
many also only use there computer for email and IRC chat or news groups as well there are thousands on AOL who have never been on the internet they believe AOL is the internet and they stay inside Email chat and instant messages never leaveing the BBS..
