We actually have no cents in them. They are being supplied to us 2000 each week, and we receive a percentage of what they close for, in addition to a handling fee.

The monry-making real trick to this, I hope you know, is to charge $12.95 for shipping, and be sure to send them media mail.
Don't worry about us using your template layout. To be honest, we think it looks like c**p. You might consider hiring a webmaster (or even someone familiar with FrontPage 96) to come up with a cleaner, more professional template. I mean, you don't even have a search feature on your thousands of cds you list a week. To be blunt, you will be pretty easy to fossilize.
Oh, and if we chose to use a colon to end our heading, we feel confident that eBay will approve of it.

As someone who has purchased 7 or 8 CDs from Marie over the years, my advice to you is to NOT take the chance.
Recently, I listed five CDs at 1 cent just to see what would happen. And what happened was.... They all sold for a penny.
The next week I listed those same CDs for $5 with BINs of $6. They all sold at the BIN prices of $6.
So... the moral of this story is: eBay is not big enough for more than one "onecentCD" seller. That gimmick just doesn't work except for Marie who, like she said, built her business up over 14 months. Her success is not based on the gimmick, but rather on reputation, inventory and loyal customers who have her auctions bookmarked.
Start your CDs off at the highest price you think they will sell for. Then you only need one bid to make some good profit.

Geez candibates1, that's cold. Are you really here to ask for advice, or just to blow your ego out your ass?
Opps, that was a question so I added a question mark.

Whew!! Someone that would be rude and insulting on a public forum (especially one where he's asking for advice) is definitely a seller I plan on avoiding. Geez!!!

kathyg...LMAO!!!
Candibates...the other day I was looking for a CD...I ran into a lot of "copycats"
The nice thing about "fossilized"
is that I instantly recognized it and got my bids in.
Oh well...

Just so you know. Marie has about 0.5% of her feedback registered as negatives.
That is an excellent score considering that they sell a ton of product and likely runs into more than their fair share of the loons on EBAY.
I wouldn't even think of competing with Marie but you are welcome to try.
I crush competition daily in my category as well but there is always someone else to fill in the gap. I have no doubt that Marie will survive just fine.

There is a very nice way to search through a 1000 CDs - you simply open an eBay store, and link to it in your auctions. Even if you never list a single store item, for 10 bucks a month you get search capability, it's a bargain.

cnadibates1: Your opinion of jereth's auctions are irrelevant, the tone is inappropriate, shows a considerable lack of maturity, tact, and indeed good manners. You want advise? Learn from gracious success.

Joice, I have removed my posts to this thread, seeing as you have seen fit to remove some of them as well where I listed my email address (also my eBay user ID).
I really started this thread with good intentions. I just wanted to get some good advice. I took offense when Marie posted this response to my request:
>>>>>>>>>>>
Nope, not me, just the kind of cr*p (did I say that?) that I must put up with, week in and week out. I'm used to it.
You will need to do the following, however: use capitalization different than mine in your eBay ads (mine are 1 CENT CD, all caps); use something other than a colon to end that headline (mine are all 1 CENT CD: with a colon behind them), and use coloring and HTML setup substantially different than mine. Otherwise we will ask you to redo your ads.
And, no, gentle readers, I am NOT kidding. We've been through this 11 times in the last year alone. FYI very few of these other sellers last more than a few weeks on eBay.
>>>>>>>>
I felt like she was cracking the whip on what I could or could not do--everything from capitalizing letters to adding colons.
Again, I never intended this to be a bashfest on my part or to me. I simply stated our intentions and asked for advice. I guess in the future I will keep my mouth shut.

It's sort of scary isn't it? The tone of this thread with the moderators present. This is not to say that they aren't doing theie jobs in the last few days, but what will it be like without them? A free for all name calling extravaganza, a real circus I suppose!

candibates1-

Maybe marie never intended this to be a bashfest, either. Try looking at it from her point of view, and things might look differently. Suppose you started up your eBay business with a catchy phrase and id, put in a lot of hard work to become successful, and as a result, found others trying to ride on your coattails by creating sound-alike auctions. Look at the title you chose for this thread:
We are starting to sell 1 cent cds-any advice?
I'd be willing to bet you don't really want to sell 1 cent cds- rather that you want to advertise 1 cent cds and sell them for more- sounds a lot like the method that marie is already using, doesn't it? Now, there's no patent or anything on this particular business plan, but (as marie noted has happened previously) adverising your business as anything at all like "onecentcds" would seem (from her point of view) to be an attempt to cash in on her work, don't you think?
I doubt marie posted here to attack you personally- I would think that what caught her attention was the reference to "1 cent cds". As long as your auctions don't appear to be a copy of another's, I don't think you'd have any problems.

how about listing your 1 cent cd on amzn,39.99 a month for 40,000 cds.
if you list it on market place,it is 99 cents transaction fee and 15% of one penny, that would really make JEFF BOZO happy.
make sure they are listed side by side with those 1 cent books/
