Hi all!
I'm just getting started selling on ebay again after a year off, so I guess I missed this change (or didn't notice when selling before).
I just checked my ebay fees and noticed my insertion fees were higher than expected. I thought no matter what you did with reserves, your starting price was the basis for the insertion fee charged.

If it was the way you think it is, we will all start our auctions at a penny with reserves. Then we will never have to pay insertion fees above 30 cents.

Hi commentary!
After wiping the egg off my face, I checked back through previous invoices. This must have started way back when ebay started charging the special reserve fee that was refundable. I can't believe I never paid enough attention to the invoices. Guess I saw the fees (at that time many were the same as the refundable fee) and mistook them for the refundable fees. I even went over the current fees before starting to list this time, but read the insertion fee wrong.
Oh well, guess that will teach me to pay attention more to what I'm doing.

No big deal - now you know and learn something new.
The online world is changing so often that it is hard to keep up.
By the way, you should always run similar auctions with/without reserves and with/without gallery. This way, you can determine if all these features are worth the extra ebay fees.

Thanks commentary for the good suggestion on running similar auctions with different features. It will certainly save on the fees!
Have a good evening all!
