I got my first one today. I got my usual ebay email plus one from Checkout, which gave me my buyer's address. This was nice because it told me he is in-state.

I sent my usual winner's email.

Can I ignore the Checkout email or do I need to click on the link and do something?

Was it an auction sale or a storefront sale?

If its a storefront sale, you have to verify/put in the checkout info, for the buyer to complete the transaction..

I haven't had a checkout sale for an auction yet.. so we'll see.. But I think if you got an email from Ebay plus the checkout email, its probably an auction listing so you shouldn't HAVE to do anything else but send your normal EOA notice..

I hate Checkout.. Sheesh.

As did we, about 4 hours after it was sent!

I am now putting a note in each listing asking the bidder to ignore checkout, we and PayPal will invoice the winner.
Most of the time our BIN auctions have been invoiced and paid via PP BEFORE ebay sends us notice of the auctions close.

Good, more things to confuse buyers!

This was an auction. I don't want to go through any song-and-dance that I don't need to, since I send my own email to buyers.

OTOH, I don't want to find out later that I get a neg or something for not filling it out or completing or cancelling or...????

I think I would also respond to the buyer through ebay's form. Why? Because the buyer may not be looking for an email from you personally but is waiting for the one from ebay. To be safe I would use the one from ebay to tell them you have sent all the info they need in a separate email from your email addy.

Amy - thanks. I did that, and now I feel uncomfortable because I chose not to enter a shipping amount [my buyers have a choice between priority and media mail]. I entered a comment that I'd sent another email.

After I clicked it came back up and it sure looks like there is no shipping charge and Sales Tax is "N/A" which is not true. So basically they may get an ebay email which conflicts with MY email. I guess I should have entered the sales tax, but I still don't know what to do about the multiple shipping options....

hmmmmm
