Are you paying extra to have your computer cut out when you recieve an incoming telephone call? They (earthlink. net) sent me an e mail saying I had to sign up for an extra servce for that, at the additional cost of $5.95 per month. This sounds bizzare. I was never informed of this. I recently discovered my friends were getting ringing tone and I never knew anyone was calling me. I thought disabling *70 let the calls come through. Please advise me. Thank you.

you should call your phone company if this is for real. I am not sure how they can possibly do that if you have call waiting enabled on your computer.

have you ever thought of using callwave.com? I no longer pay for call waiting and receive calls while on line.

the caller id shows, they get a message that i am on the internet and can leave me a voice message. when done, the message plays and i can choose to get offline and call them back or not, up to me.

the cost is $3.95 a month or $2.95 per month if you sign up for a year, they bill directly on your phone bill.

I really appreciate your input. Are you with earthlink? Thanks, Jack. If they force me against the wall I apprececiate these alternatives.

I was on earthlink until I dumped them. They wanted $1.00 for a paper invoice monthly! I switched to surfbest and pay $12.50 a month. Sure beats $23.95!

BLAIRWITCH: Does the computer cut out when you get an incoming call from this surfbest company? Any drawbacks? I cannot believe more earthlink customers have not said anything here. I must be the last one using them. Boy half price!! I just hate to think of all the changes I would have to make. It is not the money,,,,It is there rotton service. They have never from one week ago responded back about this extra $5.95. Guess I will force my self to roll up my sleeves and find better cheaper service. I just popped up the Surfbest. What was your biggest gripe with e link? They have screwed me up many times in two years.

Well I have two phone lines because of my ebay work, BUT while I was on the net I called the number from my other phone and it dident disconnect me. You can always email surfbest and ask, but it dident disconnect me. I have been using surfbest for a month with no problems. I was using endura email for earthlink, but I am now using outlook express which is much better, and surfbest gives you easy instructions to configure your email. My biggest gripe is price. I was using a local isp and they charged $150.00 a year if you paid for 12 months at a time. They then sold out to earthlink and wanted $23.95 a month! Now they are saying I owe them 2 months, but I cancelled my account. Looks like I will contact the better business bureau. Their customer service is BAD.

I really apreciate all your efforts here. Thank you. Sounds like I am back to square one. If it won't disconnect they must have a "special" program to do that. $$$$$$. They are counting on me doing the obvious I guess, Moe money, less hassle. I guess I will just have to list more, even though they are not ending like they did prior to.......I am listing at least above what I paid now. Before everything was $9.99 never worried. they went to the moon. now. no bids, or I was getting $9.99 and I had paid $20.00!!! reserves are saving my A too. Never liked them before. Still don't but.....you gotta do what ya gotta do. Thanks for telling me about surfbest. I did e mail them about this and am waiting for the word from surfbest. I know already, moe money. $2.00!!!!!! yes!!!! hahahahhah.
